Training Wednesday 12/2/14

O'brien is a bit of a forgotten man. Does anyone expect him to see much senior action this year?

He also comes into work a lot, if he lays off all the chocolate bars and peanut chocolate slabs he will be right but every time he gets them haha. One came in yesterday in heppells green training top, I assumed it was edwards at first but i don't think it was and couldn't pick the face and I'm generally good with that!

Outstanding report and photos everyone! Love your work.

Sorry, but I cant find the HPC thread. Do we have lights at the new ground?

The reason I ask is that in modern day footy we’ve become full time and therefore all our training is conducted in daylight hours, tho we tend to play mostly night footy. whereas prior 2000ish most training sessions where held 2/3 nights a week under the lights, while playing a majority of matches in daylight.

I think it would be benificial to train at least 1 night a week under lights. Obviously smarter people than me who call the shots around clubs but why dont clubs do this?

steinberg comes into work everyday

I know I‘ve advocated for him to escape from the backline, but our forum footy team is still missing a FB and CHB. Can you +1 him?

Carlisle, hardy, chappy, nob, they all come in regularly, I'll try tee something up

Tell Steinberg I will donate $50 to the flight plan if he shaves his head.

I‘ll donate $100 if he does the reverse Mohawk (can keep the ponytail if he likes).

Just briefly, Baggers has gone up another level.  I thought last year was his breakout year but in hindsight it was more like an apprenticeship, he is a goal hungry demon and a very versatile player.  Sure we might need to plug a hole down back but we have back stocks.  I reckon he will be played forward and do a great job.

Browney, Browney,Browney, they all called.  A class act we will see more of.

Edwards (Shorty) is not quite there yet, 50 50 against Rayner in contests; maybe this says more about Rayners ability than Shorty's.

Chapman, Geelong were fools to let him go.

Fantasia is a brilliant set shot for goal.  Saw him kick about 8/10 from 40-50m out after everyone else had gone inside. The other 2 were close.

Hooker was super solid, more improvement on last year to come.

Goddard looks good to go.  Such a great kick.

Heppell was Hird like.  Yeah I said it!  Time stands still.  No sign of injury or stiffness.

Hardy, well I love the guy but he can't kick.  He sprayed one out on the full and got ragged by a few guys and got cranky and said words that can't be printed here.  He seems to pull the kick across his body and not follow through or straighten his leg properly.  You would think the coaches could correct this but he gets a bit defensive and dare I say it a bit backy with them.  Time to accpept your failings Kyle and listen to your mentors.  In his defence he did stay back and practice bananas but the shots were pretty random.

Sticks is a cool dude who lopes around just like Fletch, I can see where the comparisons come from, same walk, head forward on a long neck and has a really casual attitude, maybe a little too casual.

I like Ambrose but Fletch made him look like an amateur.  Fair enough, Fletch has 20 years experience and Ambrose was an amateur last year.

Dell plays with intent and gusto.  I like him a lot, definitely ahead of Ambrose at his point.  The Berg is probably about the same chance of upgrade just a different kind of player.

Wow what a great place to train.  next time I'll bring binoculars.  Huge!

Was he deliberately trying bananas or were they just coming off that way?

I'm worried if Steinberg cuts his hair I'll lose my man crush.

But will be times where Baguley for example follows his man up the ground, sets up as part of the fwd press and if ball comes out to him can barrel it forward for goal or just over the congestion 20-50m out.

i'm all for the bringing the barrel back and using it in the midfield to get over the back of defences. sure you will have the odd miskick but if you practice it i don't see any reason why your strike rate wouldn't become reasonably good. Given how many players are prepared to dry dribblers from the pocket these days I don't understand why barrels are a no go.

i always felt the trick with a torpedo was to not kick it too hard. concentrate on getting good contact so you get a nice tight spiral.

GREGORY.
