Just booked flights to Sri Lanka next Feb with 3 nights in Singapore on the way back. Any recommendations on best areas / hotels to stay in Singapore?
(I’ll worry about Sri Lanka a bit later)

Depend what you are into and if you are travelling with kids
Parents & 21 year old daughter. Prob into culture & food mostly. A decent coffee would be welcome after Sri Lanka I reckon. Might have a look at the night zoo. Daughter enjoyed vintage clothes shopping in Japan, Thailand, Chile etc. but I’m guessing that isn’t a thing in Singapore? Yet to look into it TBH.
Bugis is pretty cool IMO but if you want a bit upmarket then you probably want Marina Bay or Orchard Rd.
Chinatown and Little India are good culture wise and has some accommodation that is reasonably priced
Thanks. Sounds like a good place to start.
I think Heffsgirl and others gave some Singapore stay advice in here a couple of weeks back also.
Surely Raffles in Singapore. A touch of empire, waiters with their Singapore Slings at $1,000 a night.
Pretty expensive waiters. But it is Singapore.
You haven’t allowed for inflation!
Last 3 stays there have been about $1300 per night and that’s with my Accor Diamond rates
It’s about $1500.
Singapore sling is $47 a pop at the long bar.
Well we won’t be staying there then
Definitely visit. Stay around Bugis.
Kampong Glam?
Is it easy to withdrawal cash in Japan?
I remember last time I was there 10 years ago I think the 7/11 ATMs worked well for some reason.
Is there anywhere in Melb CBD that changes aud to yen ar a decent rate?
@Heffsgirl and others, is Village Hotel Bugis a good choice? It’s not offensively priced, has family rooms (there are three of us) and is very close to Haji & Bali Lanes (which I assume are good for coffee & food) and walkable to the Bugis MRT station.
Don’t know that exact hotel, but great location! You’ll be near the MRT with downtown line (you can go to Marina Bay Sands) and easy connection to other lines.
I LOVE Haji lane. Bugis at night is fun, late night entertainment.
If its not offensive price wise then do it. Just make sure you have air con.
Greenland
Best atms are in the 7/11s.
I’m a bit put off by some of the reviews (5:30am call to prayer over the road, very tired rooms) so am thinking adjoining rooms at Hotel Traveltine for a similar price. It’s a bit further away from Bugis stn & Haji lane but still walkable. Location seem OK?
I think thats fine. Looks like the green line is closest. If you like to walk, you could get to MBS, gardens by the Bay etc. Buses run along the road your hotel is on so getting around won’t be difficult.
