Barrett going into bat for Alex Pearce who will get 3-4 weeks for an incident pretty much identical to the Peter Wright incident a couple of years ago.
Bet he didn’t have the same view back then.

He did all the same things that Wright did and should be punished accordingly.
Took his eyes off the ball, braced, failed to actually contest the mark.
Wright got 4 weeks didn’t he? 3 or more and he misses our game.
We’ll look like mugs if he is cited and they challenge on the basis he was going for the mark and didn’t have sufficient time to react any other way and gets off. Still think we should have tried that on
He was given 3 games by MRO. Not sure why it wasn’t sent straight to tribunal for a 4 week ban?
Like Petre, he should have been given no games. The footage even shows him nearly dislocating his shoulder in a weird unnatural movement that can only be trying to get it out of the way.
He actually risked his own safety to try and protect an opponent.
The MRO sucks.
Week after week we see blokes ducking and diving, placing their own safety at risk. Not only are they not sanctioned, they are rewarded with free kicks.
Yet blokes like Wright and Pearce are rubbed out for football acts where they are only trying to protect themselves, or even the opponent in Pearce’s case.
Stupidity of the highest order. The AFL isn’t reducing it’s legal or financial liability, despite their hamfisted attempts.
How did Newcombe escape with a fine? Hawks are a protected species.
FIFTH rough conduct charge. Bloody insane. Protected species Hawthorn again.
Was a suplex you normally see on WWE or AEW, not AFL.
And it was a sling tackle. Not just rough conduct.
How is the Newcombe tackle a fine??? They have been upgrading the force to medium all year with potential to cause injury and then just decide on this one it’s low??
Just because no concussion. It’s time they look at the potential to injure properly. It shouldn’t be outcomes based. This is one of the worst tackles we have seen for a while. Should have been a week at least.
Just saw it. That is a disgrace. Some of the other tackles that have got weeks and this suplex is ok?
thanks to Nathan Buckley for trying to argue common sense with the Alex Pearce case. it’s very similar to 2MP, there is no way you can avoid this sort of collision. and again, the player who throws themselves dangerously into a contest without watching where he’s going doesn’t get mentioned. it’s dumb.
Callum Mills really should be rubbed out for multiple weeks.
Annoys me that impact is such a big part of the ban and not intent.
What he coulda done could have knocked out the other guy into next Sunday, Was so lucky it didn’t.
Makes no sense(to me anyhow).
Alex Pierces suspension looks like 2MPs against that Sydney bloke last year. Stiff for a football act
lol, Alex Pearce gets off, while we put 2MP through a public humiliation ritual.
The Pearce one actually looked worse,
bahaha, for reals? i told y’all we should have contested and claimed he was going for the mark.
pissant club, terrible legal advice, or 2mp not knowing how to sell a good narrative. ■■■■ house either way.
“I thought I had made a play at the ball … it felt like it was just a collision in the marking contest.”
that’s all 2mp needed to show up and say and he should have been coached to do it. FFS
Sanity prevails
Glad Pearce got off. Looked a genuine accident and he only realised DBJ was there too late and did everything he could to limit the damage.
