Also, I remember there was briefly a marionette wiggles show which was creepy as ■■■■

Anybody else remember an 80s Aussie comedy called The Fast Lane? It was very funny.

Yes, that was a great show. Had a young Debra Lawrence IIRC.

My experience going back and actually watching any old sketch shows is… no, it wasn’t actually that funny

Every sketch show in history has about a 20% hit rate

5 years down the track you only remember the hits.

It wasn’t a sketch show, but a comedy series about two inept private investigators.

Are you thinking of Fast Forward?

Didn’t you hate that, when they put something else on? Still remember the disappointment when I sat down to watch the Flintstones and Lassie came on.

Don’t get me started about how the Footy Show always pushed Babylon 5 back anything from 15-45 minutes, and the delay was completely unpredictable so you couldn’t even set the damn VCR…

The Geordie sitcom starring a young James Bolam as Terry Collier and Rodney Bewes as his mate Bob. Bob was sub thumbo to Thelma. Terry was a free spirit, who joined the army.

A sequel whatever Happened to the Likely Lads when Terry came out of the army. In one ep, Bob wanted Terry’s shoulder to cry on when Terry was out on a pier fishing. Terry felt so sorry for him that he said “i’d offer you a beer, but I’ve only got six”. Just before I left Melbourne, there was a guy at our trivia known as Geordie Kev,who mentioned the show and then referred to the same scene.

Other UK sitcoms were The Lovers with Kate Beckinsale’s dad, Richard (who died very young) and Paula Wilcox from Man About the House. The Liver Birds set in Liverpool.

GO TO ■■■■■ JAIL.

But seriously, a sensational show.

I used to love Danger Mouse.

Having watched a few episodes recently on Nflix, it’s pretty smart comic writing.

We never forgot Dr WHO

I’ve still got quite a few stashed away in a tub in the garage.

She wasn’t Doctor Who. She was his companion.

My final offering for tonight is Boys From The Blackstuff, an outstanding drama series set in the grim Margaret Thatcher era of 1980s England and its high unemployment rate.

“I’m Yosser Hughes. Gis a job.”
