LOL this should give the new Congress years of material to impeach Biden

Even though the “dey tork err jerbs” crew in congress will be all over this , here’s the actual story in a nutshell. But Fox won’t dare show this…

Plus, Trump was asked to return them, lied that he did, and then got busted.

It’s certainly not good at all. It would get a normal person into more than political awkwardness. But its well short of what Trump did, which would get a normal person into jail.

I’m pretty confident a lot of people in the US are too stupid to discern the differences even when presented in table comparison form.

Sad but true

I agree they look like they’re at different ends of the spectrum but it also depends what the classified documents are - in both cases and I’m not close enough to any of it to have a vie on that point - but I’m sure we will find out …….I agree, Biden’s confidential documents seems much less of a criminal issue than Trump’s but the problem I see for Joe is that 1) it’s embarrassing because he righty attacked Trump for doing the same thing and 2) the Reps will use it to damage Biden (even though it appears to be very minor). It’s politics so of course they use whatever dirt they can

Reading an article today on this topic the bigger question being raised by the Reps is the timing of announcing that Joe had some classified docs. Apparently they were discovered before the mid term elections but not announced until this week (hopefully I read that correctly). To me this is what the Reps will press - a conspiracy by the Justice Department aimed at helping the Dems at the mid terms - I’m not saying any of that is right or legitimate- but I believe that’ll be what the Reps make a huge issue out of

Fundamentally, the Republicans are going to spin this as equivalent regardless of circumstances or facts.

It’s similar to “her emails”. It didn’t matter that multiple Bush cabinet minsters got caught out doing the same. It didn’t matter that Trump aides and family members turned out to do it. In Republican minds those who even knew did not care.

Biden’s stuff seems to be staff didn’t pack everything up and left some stuff locked in a cabinet. The security was somewhat in place, but slack. As soon as noticed, the issue was voluntarily fixed.

Trump took everything home with him and was left unsecured in his private office. He actively fought to stop those documents being returned.

So the details are very very different, but they’ll be presented as equivalent.

And that is all that matters to some. With the Republicans controlling congress, and the ability to instigate investigations- this is a bit of an own goal by the Dems whether they done the “right” thing or not. Frustrating, as it seems every time Trump is in the crosshairs, he manages to wriggle free

Hasn’t he admitted that some were in his garage next to his Corvette?

The issue is really what are they and who has potentially had access to them i.e. how compromised a position were the documents left in? And, heaven forbid, were any used inappropriately during the time they were secure at archives?

The Biden v Trump thing is a distraction as they are not linked and need to both be analysed separately as to the seriousness of the breach.

Special Counsel appointed to investigate Biden.

It is kinda funny to see conservatives suddenly give a ■■■■ about classified documents though, not gonna lie.

The double standards are ■■■■■■■ disgusting.

“It’s okay that Trump/Biden did x because he’s one of us.”

Unfortunately, it’s human nature to latch onto information that supports our tribe/held belief and dismiss or discredit information that is detrimental to our tribe/belief.

My take is that Biden stuffed up. That should be investigated, as with any other security breach.

If Biden’s mistake was his staff being ■■■■ at their jobs, then the mistake gets treated as a poor management issue.

Same with if a Republican had done this. Was it incompetence, negligence or deliberate? That lets you judge the individual.
