I need to start a band called Amish Dog Breeders.

It might have to be an acoustic band.

From my cold, dead, teeny, tiny, chubby little hands.

Scary to think that my 12 year old grandson is better educated that 54% of US adults. Have always said that while the vast majority of Americans are lovely people, polite, friendly and generous, that so so many of them are dumb as dogshit. Their education system is abysmal. That level of literacy would be considered disgraceful in many third world countries, yet alone the richest country on the planet.

‘I don’t think that’s the defence that you think it is’ brilliant!

That is both hilarious and sad at the same time.
Rick Scott is absolutely schooled by the journo.
Rick Scott has enough people dumb enough to continue to elect him.

The thing is, the Americans you meet are the outliers. Most people don’t travel to the rural back blocks of America, or the poor suburbs in the metropolises. States like Kentucky, or Arkansas (insert any number of red states here). And they don’t travel out of their locale either.

This is where the problem is. There’s no investment in education or health or welfare.

Their politicians aren’t so calculating, but the current situation is the result of the combination of several political projects going back to before WW2.

The John Birch Society, Phyllis Schlaffly, Jerry Falwell, Pat Patterson and the Moral Majority, Barry Goldwater and the Southern Strategy, everything touched by Milton Friedman just to name a few.

I’m not saying it’s a conspiracy, but it’s no accident either.

Or as my postdoc describes them “outliners” :wallbash:

do these american republicans howling at a citizen elected head of state know just what a completely moronic pathetic kindergarten child like whinging sack of ■■■■ they look like

No.
They are appealing to the Jerry Springer-raised audience that votes for them.
The people that think winning an argument means shouting louder than everyone else, or using a “zinger” to shut down everyone else. Except the audience haven’t got a clue what an actual argument-winning zinger sounds like- so they just parrot bs talking points they heard on FOX or the OAN

What’s up with the train derailment in Ohio?

Media seems reluctant to touch it. Footage on twitter of a reporter assaulted by local police while trying to cover it.

Unsubstantiated rumors of a lingering smell of chlorine (which would be especially dangerous given the chemicals spilled) and dead livestock.

Brushing it under the rug.

Seems like busting the railroad strikes may not have been the best idea…

US uses chlorine in the processing of chicken meat. It’s why imports of US chicken meat is banned in some countries.
It has been a sticking point in bilateral trade negotiations.

Media on all sides will be reluctant to touch this issue, ditto both parties given the recent strikes and the blatant pro-capital stance that all concerned have taken
