The biggest irony of Nazi cruelty towards minorities is that they pushed out the people who would have won them the war.
So much of the Manhattan project was made of scientists and engineers who had fled Nazi Germany. If those minds had worked in aid of the Reich, the war may have turned out differently.
Compare that to the odd crew that cracked the Enigma code. The allies tended to use a wider range of people, getting the most value from the talent they had.
That’s fair, I’ll concede the point regarding smaller businesses. Especially in the current COVID era, there will be some businesses only barely staying afloat and would be scrapping for every penny just to break even.
In my original post however, the firms which were taking vacation hours away from their employees were on the larger side. Two examples were Toyota and Whole Foods. They would be in a position to eat a few days/couple of weeks of no front-line employees.
That’s one way for the Republicans to make the party even more irrelevant, not only in their illogical thinking, but in this case their declining numbers.
Obviously the fat orange ■■■■ had put the que in the rack for the last 2 months but i cannot help but think where things would have gone if the election had not been ‘stolen’ from him. Would the ■■■■ have made some sort of effort to rein in Covid. The ■■■■ should be held accountable for refusal to Protect and serve the people of the USA
The political split on vaccine use, mask wearing, social distancing ect… is heavily due to Trump. Not completely, those that are resistant to such things will naturally lean towards the GOP. But if Trump had communicated helpful messages, it would have changed beliefs in many Republican voters. It would have changed the behaviour of lower level politicians. It would have saved thousands, if not tens of thousands of lives.
No doubt he’d still be President if he hadn’t let his financial interests outweigh the human cost. Just to say to his believers to take this seriously may have saved lives and his ar se which is going to be handed to him soon.
That’s the weird thing - he DIDN’T have any financial interests in failing to deal with COVID. I could think of a hundred ways in which the fricking President could have cleaned up personally. Mandatory hotel detention, with the hotel owner lavishly compensated. Guess who owns lots of hotels?
He didn’t stuff this all up out of greed, he just … stuffed it up through being ■■■■ at presidenting. He was too lazy or distracted or incompetent to even try.
I also think he honestly thought it was a partisan issue. He saw it was effecting Blue states more, that his people didn’t like masks and what not, that Dems were making a deal out of it, and his natural reaction was to therefore disregard it. Ridicule the Dems for it, let the blue states suffer, and save “his” economy as much as possible.
He didn’t foresee that his reaction would drive Dem voters out and some moderates off him.
But in all honesty, COVID may not have moved the dial. Both sides had huge turnouts, and (I don’t think) the swings in the key states weren’t that huge in the context of the election.
You also got to see how he responds to challenges. It’s always a transaction or bulldozing bullying someone until they are unable to resist. Or simply pretend it isn’t happening.
With covid he staked everything on treatments HCQ, bleach, injections in or under the skin!!! and vaccines that needed to be prepared before he left office.
