US politics - is weird (part 6)

Get those Silent Witness sleuths on to it.

RFK i think will have a very minimal positive effect to Trump. Historically Democrats prefer a two horse race because their base if highly engaged simply has more numbers.

Trump has never received more than 47% of the nations vote in any election. Democrats will be aiming for Harris to reach the 50% mark. Last 24 hours that is starting to happen or be very close.

to show… and these are polls prior to convention.

Battleground state polling in 2-3 days will be interesting.

Polling is still over-reliant on landlines in the US as far as I know.

But there’s another paradoxical way that Trump himself laid the groundwork for this campaign, and made it possible for Harris to turn his own political heft against him. The centerpiece of Trump’s post-presidency is the wicked conceit that he never stopped being president at all. At the most basic level he never admitted that he lost the 2020 campaign. His most ardent supporters believe he is the legitimate president and some of the most febrile actually believe in a funhouse mirror, QAnony way that he still holds secret reins of power. But much of it is more immediate and open. He still calls himself president. He demands and universally receives that billing from his followers. He moves through the country with the trappings and insignia of the presidency. He continues to meet with foreign heads of state, not as an elder statesman but as though he never left office. He even argues that national secrets and presidential documents are his personal property. This has been an open, weird and much-discussed feature of Trump’s post-presidency since the first weeks after leaving office. If Trump and his toadies are now complaining that Harris is treating him like the incumbent it is because in ways vast and small he has acted like one and demanded to be treated like one for almost four years. She’s taken his most perverse and vainglorious conceit and turned it into a massive liability.

Regarding release of the files FOR JFK: “The struggle was especially fierce in 2017, when then-President Donald Trump sided with the CIA and FBI and agreed to waive a supposedly concrete legal deadline that year to release all classified documents related to the JFK assassination.”

Though, I was sure I had read that many of those files were in fact destroyed in the WTC on selectees 11. But now I can’t find any reference to that online. It could be a cover up.

whats with all the rumours about Michelle obama too?

feels like both sides are playing dirty politics and character assination.

From the BBC

Influencers swarm convention as Democrats’ secret weapon

For the first time, more than 200 content creators have been invited to the Democratic National Convention, where they’ve been granted exclusive access to the party’s biggest names.
Most of them are young political activists, using social media to reach young voters - often pushing the Harris campaign’s message without challenge.

Meanwhile, in Trumpland, Donald has a light bulb moment: Maybe I can use Barron, he’s young and understand this stuff, and it wont cost me anything…

Just to clarify this. Trump keynote speech to Heritage Foundation , April 2022.

"They’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do,” Trump said of the Heritage Foundation " .

Both Harris and Trump have been targetting influencers so it’s nothing new, the GOP also invite influencers and Trump has been doing the rounds with a lot of big influencers on the youtube/social media scene. Theo Von actually had a far better interview with Trump than Elon Musk managed, where it actually was more of a casuaul conversation.

For context he also did an interview with Bernie the same week which was also very good:

Trump does not particularly understand the Streisand effect.

My point is.
MSM is slowly being sidelined. Instead of gotcha questions in a room, they may finally have to do some actual work…like some investigative journalism… to find a decent political story

What is MSM?

Main Stream Media.

Trump also got interviewed by this guy that sniffs the seat of his guests. Somehow this is normal behaviour you’d want to be associated with.

For some reason, he didn’t sniff Trumps.

Absolutley. Adin Ross is a social media entertainer who plays up to his gen Z crowd (this is the ■■■■ they do and how they get famous) and he is an idiot, but is also an idiot that has almost 5 million subscibers and gets millions of viewers each month in videos and live steams alone and has an influence on his large audience of potentially young and new voters. Trump knows this.

You think the Democrats are only selecting the Crème de la crème of influencers? I think I recall earlier in the thread how people were complaning how morally offensive it was they they were “paying” these influencers for these kind of endorsements. It’s the same battle on both sides, battles that are being fought outside of “the polls” and CNN/Fox that 50 year olds think are important, far more important than posting twitter opinons from their echo chamber, or posting ugly pics of Trump, these are the younger “undecided” voters that will help decide the election that haven’t had their opinions moulded. The Dems are wining, dining and 69’ing the influencers at their convention and Trump seeking out the same influencers to win voters on his side too.

Now this next may or may not be interesting, but generally pro Dem influencer HasanAbi got kicked out suddenly at the DNC when he was interviewing a NYT jounalist about influencers ironically, I think because they must have suddenly realised his Palestine views and got concerned as he’s usually unfliterted which was a bit of a misstep.

Looks a good 25 years older than he did in 1999. And he should, because he is. Your glasses must make the ladies in the retirement homes look like spring chickens.
