His only regret is that people are calling him out for tonguing Trump’s nuts whilst he had the Epstein files in his hands.

The use of due process kind of catches all that other stuff

Trump’s heavy handed intervention in LA could backfire on him.
A California legal challenge based on exclusive or concurrent State powers under the Tenth Amendment could attract more States, including some of the old Confederate States.
Trump has gained support for Washington to cede to the States in regard to abortion, education , religious discrimination and censorship.
A significant Constitutional challenge under the Tenth Amendment would involve legal debate on the Presidential powers and actions which serve to erode the powers of States in a federal system.
As Sam Lane KC would say, State power in public health and safety is a very legal question.

It’s also entirely possible that this whole thing is designed to distract Americans from the fact he has delivered zero on cost of living

The BBB wasn’t even going to lift the tax on tips, it was right there, it was an election promise and he didn’t do it

He’s such a ■■■■

I’m wondering which State will mobilise it’s well armed militia to stave off a tyrannical federal government, as per the 2nd Amendment.

It will be a red state, when the penny finally drops that they’ve been sold out

So depose Newsome and replace him with a MAGA puppet?

Surely he would have made a copy

I think that’s inevitable.

If you’re in America, what are your choices here? you either sit back, complicit to what’s happening and let full authoritarian regime take hold, or you protest against it.

Either way they get the same result.

We have seen this in the world many times over. It happened exactly like this in several Authoritarian nations in Africa quite recently

If you’re caught in the Western world bubble this will come as a surprise, i think it’s why many people don’t see what’s happening. But if you pay attention to global unrest, it’s a very familiar path to ultimate power.

We have already wasted/given away enough money to the US on Aukus.

About time this country grew up and took its fawning blinkers off.

So I guess the hope here is these awful people are dumb and spiteful enough to undo the AUKUS scheme on the grounds that building stuff for other countries is not ‘putting America first’. Which would be preferable to the deal Scotty signed us up for which would’ve meant they’d build their own first then maybe ours and then only with extraordinary conditions, lots of taxpayer cash up front, complete reliance on US systems and support, no actual working subs in any of our lifetimes etc

And remove Marles to an obscure place on the back bench.

The submarine component of AUKUS is pretty dumb, and I wouldn’t be unhappy if that dies.
AUKUS does bring a lot more to the table than just submarines, though, I’d be disappointed if those other components get turfed. To be honest, I suspect that those are the ones that Trump is targeting. A lot of our business benefits from those components, and I suspect the outcomes would not be great for us.

US to allies: “You have to increase your defence spending! You can’t depend on us!”

Also US to allies: “You have to spend that money buying from us! You must depend on our stuff!”

Who’d be in Newsom’s shoes right now.
He needs to win this collision in LA with Trump and his National Guards and Marines. One step away from civil war its feeling… and yes, crackdown on illegals but peacefully.

Politically its also a chance for the Democrats to rally behind a potential 2028 Presidential contender
