US politics - the new orange wave (Part 7)

I reckon Trump thinks the AfD & CDU/CSU are the same thing

Merz still needs to form a coalition, which is technically possible with the AfD at this stage.

However there’s no chance that Trump comprehends this, let alone understands how the German electoral processes work.

Merz has ruled out a coalition with Afd, looks like SPD, possibly Greens. Far left Die Linke performed very well. Business as usual in the relatively grown up country of Germany, but the hobgoblins of fascism are making themselves visible in a big way. Don’t have to hide anymore is the universal message.

Merz: „Absolutely no illusions“ about Trump. Goal needs to be step by step independence from a US who „pretty much no longer cares about fate of Europe“
„Unclear whether we will still speak of NATO in present shape“ by time of June summit or we need to come up with European alternative.
„Look at these recent interventions into Germany by a Mr Elon Musk. Interventions from DC no less dramatic, drastic & brazen than those from Moscow. We are massively under pressure from two sides“
Merz: „Absolute priority needs to be European unity“ in the face of these challenges. Says he had never thought he‘d have to say these things about the US

Donnie might be the most geopolitically inept leader since Chamberlain

New leader of Germany, Merz in his first words makes the situation very clear. Merz hero is Reagan as a conservative. One thing Reagan had as his core message was democracy for the globe. So even though conservative centrist party won… Germany will be very much coming from a united Europe for anyone not wanting democracy. Its why Merz slammed Vance comments in his country and has heavily criticised and distanced himself from Trump. They are opposites when it comes to dictatorship and power grabs

Important win for the globe

Leave out poor old Neville. At least he didn’t actively destabilise people opposing Hitler.

Interesting to see the measles outbreak in Texas expanding , and the CDC more or less paralysed by the new administration edicts.

It’s a good thing no one was dumb enough to put an idiot vaccine sceptic in charge of the health system.

Don’t be an idiot. Three days is hardly enough time to persuade the hardline right wingers to surrender, rather than turn against the softer faction in government or to perform seppuku.

This strong message about a united Europe to tackle Russia and potentially new missles is fantastic news. Now distribute the frozen $300bn to Ukraine and tell Putin to GAGF.
