As a former US Secretary of State (Schultz) said to a Pope ( on contraception):
“You no playa the game, you no maka the rules”

@Ants here is his murder rant

Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the 2020 version of “lock her up”

It’s economic anxiety, DM

Which may be construed as insensitive because it is given some of your reports on the state of affairs over there. But you get the drift, travel light and keep an eye out for loot boxes. Plus Canada is providing this virtual prep so you know it’s coming from the right place.

Too close for comfort though!

Here is my only hope for 2020. We know all the racists and bigots voted for Trump. But, and stay with me here, so did the folks with real economic anxiety? Those that have seen their livelihood destroyed by a combination of globalization and government apathy. They hear this conman saying a lot of disgraceful things but also promising them a change. So they throw caution to the winds and go with him.

Essentially they go with him in enough numbers to land him the 80,000 votes he needed to win the Electoral College.

Will these people stick with him in 2020 given:

  1. Their condition has not improved and likely worsened
  2. Any misgivings they had have likely been confirmed right

I truly think that is the only remaining hope.

That’s a solid hope, I think.

The base that turns out at these rallies and chants “send her back” while Lord O’range Of Toole basks in adulation is not enough to win the Presidency.

I don’t think you need to change anyone’s mind, rather you need to motivate those that didn’t vote last time.

80’000 Hispanic and black voters that stayed home but now see how racist Trump is and the broader damage he is doing.

80’000 young progressives who stayed home or voted green in protest because it wasn’t Bernie.

The issue is who they blame?

With Fox News, Sinclair Media (local news but fox like) and syndicated radio blowhards like Rush Limbaugh they are just as likely to blame the economic malaise in the ‘socialists’ controlling the house

Yep, that is a good point. The propaganda apparatus is far more sophisticated than in 2016.

The biggest voting block in 2016 was “did not vote”

How do the Democrats get people to vote. The Republicans would be looking at groups who didn’t vote as well.

Also, a left field question. How long do you need to live in a state to be able to vote there?
Why don’t 2 million Californians just go and live a in trailer park for a while in some of these states with minimal population? If you can’t beat them - join them!

Or um, you could just get the Democrats to come out and vote. Rather than voting third party. And whoever wins the primary could actually go and campaign in the key states.

Remember, there were all these things depressing Clinton’s turnout that will hopefully not be there this time:

  • Russian interference (ok, so this may still be there)
  • Actually visiting/campaigning in the key states
  • No FBI re-opening of an investigation in the weeks before the election
  • A candidate who hasn’t had the Republicans slamming them for 20 years
  • A candidate who the left doesn’t have (fairly or unfairly) significant concerns over (warkhawk, ties to wall street, honesty, her husband)
  • Last time Trump ran on populist positions that he either did not do (infrastructure spending) or actually contradicted (healthcare). I think it will be harder to pinch Democrat positions this time.

I suspect a lot of Democrats won’t vote for Sanders, and a lot of Democrats won’t vote for non-Sanders…again.

Lol so juvenile click bait is considered ‘Russian interference’ now is it? Also, rather than ■■■■ on people who vote their conscience i.e. third parties as you keep doing, how about getting people who don’t vote i.e. the biggest ‘voting’ bloc in the U.S, to actually vote? Starting with pushing policies and agendas that would motivate said bloc to vote.
