A comment on my Blitz status update got me thinking - there sure are a lot of useless jobs out there. Ignoring the fact that most jobs in first world western society involve the meaningless shuffling around of wealth rather than actually producing anything of note, what are some of the most useless occupations you know of?
For mine, "social media expert" is up there. The notion that you can not only be "better" than someone else at Twitter, let alone get paid for your opinions on how to achieve that, is absurd. The next step along this path is search engine optimisation - an industry built on manipulating an online service with a limited-by-definition customer base.
Nah, my insurance broker is anything but useless. She has saved me big bucks over the years, ensured that my insurance coverage works, and fights the insurers when we make a claim. She is gold and barracks for the Bombers.
The people who hold the stop/slow signs are roadworks sites. I wouldn't mind a full days pay to stay there and do SFA.
Once interviewed a guy for a sales job, and he had as his past job, "Traffic Controller". We immediately assumed it was at the Airport, moving planes around. Didn't work it out until he was asked about the worst part of his previous job, and he said it was bad when it rained. Again we thought that he mean't bad weather for flying. Nah he didn't like getting wet, and the cars splashed him !!
