Dion Johnstone – Casey Demons

AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Johnstone for striking Essendon player Nino Lazzaro during the second quarter of the VFL Preliminary Final between Casey Demons and Essendon on Saturday 15th September 2018 at Stannards Stadium, Port Melbourne.

Based on the available video evidence and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact. The incident was classified as a two match base sanction. An early guilty plea enables the player to accept a one match sanction.

Outcome – Contesting at the VFL Tribunal – 6.00PM, Wednesday 19th September – AFL Victoria Head Office.

He’s contesting it??

What a piece of sh-t.

On what grounds could he contest?

Is there some Zapruder style footage that’s just been discovered?

We need a FCFC medical report.

So what about the second one?
Did the umps just ignore that?

Not enough, but an improvement…

Dion Johnstone has impressed with his work ethic throughout his first year at Melbourne

If not this year, I’ll just keep sticking at it and hopefully it happens next year
Dion Johnstone

AT MELBOURNE’s season launch in March, co-captain Nathan Jones nominated first-year small forward Dion Johnstone as one to watch out for in 2017.

Jones had seen Johnstone, pick No.64 in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, walk into his first AFL pre-season and try his darnedest to match it physically with seasoned teammates.

Nicknamed ‘Neon’, Johnstone is a skillful boxer and he certainly packed a punch when he wrapped teammates up in tackles, surprising a few at the club with the impact he made across half-forward in match simulation drills over summer.

He certainly packed a punch at least 2 times in that game.

Did he play an AFL game yet? So good that he misses out of the GF. Dog act.
