VFL - Round 12 vs Fark Carlton @ Windy Hill, 1:45pm Saturday 11 June 2022

EDIT: title now has the amended time. This game starts ~2 hours later due to the VFLW Qualifying Final.

Public service announcement in case you’re coming to this: it is subject to change.

Most likely Essendon VFLW will host Hawthorn on that day at Windy Hill in the first round of finals… so that VFL start time can not work.

We’ll know if we have the home final after Haw/Ess/Casey have played on May 28.

Could be a big day. VFLW followed by VFLM followed by march to G, followed by seniors at MCG.
Edit - damn, just realised seniors is Fri night. Forget that. Still a big day for VFLW.

So are we expecting a very different looking VFL team this week with the injury returnees in the seniors, and the 2s and possibly the mid season draftees as well…

Yeah should be a much stronger team in. Around 16 AFL guys.

If we manage to get through this week unscathed then certainly next week the VFL side will be as strong as it’s been all season.

Cos you’ve got to remember that Francis, Langford and Voss are all back next week rather than this.

You could potentially have all of the following playing 2’s next week:

Langford
Francis
Voss
Baldwin
Menzie
D’Ambrosio
Waterman
Zerk
McBride
Brand
Eyre
Hird
McDonagh
Phillips/Bryan
Ham
Lord
Maybe one or two of Smith, Cutler, Tex

How can you say stronger with Smith, Ham, Waterman, Zerk, McDonnagh?

They will need to give Baldwin & Voss some midfield time. We have too many talls.

Yeah potentially. But there’s always gonna be your handful of VFL listed guys to even things out accordingly e.g. Atley, Conforti, Laguda etc

I hope they Play Voss, Baldwin and even Francis in the midfield as much as possible. If one of them could be a back up for the Stringer roll that will be needed

Isn’t that what’s been causing weight problems all year?
Although, given your username, any hints as to the contents of this roll?

Francis suspended?

Got a week for a VFL incident.

The third Hird got dropped for winning us a game.

Francis “managed”, not suspended.

Essendon plays Carlton at Windy Hill, with the teams making a remarkable 17 changes between them.

Carlton has switched a whopping 10 players from the team that overran Northern Bullants, with coaches award contender Paddy Dow returning alongside Will Hayes, Jack Carroll, Lachie Fogarty, Jesse Motlop, Liam Stocker, Alex Mirkov and NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft selection Sam Durdin, while Jack Martin and Jordan Boyd were called up to the AFL team and Tom Williamson is out for personal reasons.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: Carlton 22-16-5. At Windy Hill: Essendon 11-9-2. Streak: Carlton 1 (last loss 1896). Essendon was 8-0-2 in the previous 10 meetings. Last Time: Carlton 14.17 101 def Essendon 8.4 52 (Windy Hill, 2021)

Ha, Francis “managed” according to one VFL source, and suspended per the other.

One emergency to presumably replace Waterman.

Waterman only played a 1/4, so reckon he still gets a run for 3 in the vfl

Forward line and backline look ok but the midfield…

Looking forward to Langford getting a game in the centre in the VFL

Eyre on his last legs moved to the backline…?
