VFL - Round 15 vs North @ Windy Hill, Saturday 13 July 2019 at noon

So, I haven’t done the calculations but I think we should be able to get from Windy Hill to Marvel in time for the AFL kicking off at 4:35 pm. Train straight to Southern Cross should do it reasonably easy.

Both games on Saturday are against North, but in the VFL they are 13th on the ladder. So at this level we have to push hard to consolidate our spot on top of the ladder. No dropping percentage!!!

There’s a train at 3.10pm, be on it!

Can’t make it. Someone else can do the hot chip report this week. Haven’t tried Windy Hill chips for a while.

It partially overlaps with the VFLW match but WARFradio have that one.

LAST ENCOUNTER

2019 Rd 3 @ Avalon Airport Oval: Essendon 20.14 (134) d North Melbourne 5.10 (40)

FORMLINES

Essendon (1st on ladder, 9-2 record) moved to the top of the table with its fifth straight win last week – a 39-point defeat of Coburg. / North Melbourne (13th, 3-9) snapped a three-match losing streak with a comfortable 57-point victory over Sandringham in Round 14.

KEY QUESTION

Can the Kangaroos repeat what they achieved in Round 9? North Melbourne unexpectedly defeated ladder-leader Richmond by 29 points six weeks ago, fiercely attacking the contest and converting efficiently inside 50 (winning despite one fewer scoring shot). However, senior coach David Loader’s team will perhaps need to be even more potent to upset the Bombers, who are the VFL’s top scoring team.

KEY STAT

Will Snelling has made a big impact in Essendon’s VFL midfield since joining the club at the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft from West Adelaide. The 21-year-old ex-Port Adelaide AFL-lister won game-highs of 34 disposals and 16 contested possessions in last week’s win against the Lions, and is averaging 27 disposals, 13 contested possessions, seven tackles, five clearances and one goal per game across his five VFL matches so far.

SELECTION NEWS

Key AFL-listers Michael Hartley and Brayden Ham – as well as VFL-listed goalkicker Danny Younan (facial fracture) – are among the Bombers’ outs. / Luke Davies-Uniacke and Sam Durdin come in for the Kangaroos after being replaced at AFL level by Jamie Macmillan and Curtis Taylor , with VFL-listers Nick Rippon (calf) and Alex Morgan (adductor) also out due to injury.

If you believe…

… then the following are likely to play:

HepA
Tynan
Aylett
Hocking
Goetz
Hanna
Lazzaro
Laguda <-- he’s back!
Bowman
Landt
Berry

… and these guys are less likely:

Guccione
Brown
McQueen

Those numbers are consistent with Hartley and Ham sitting out, and Bezerk Thatcher and Snelling playing.

It’s great to have the training reports back.

Pro tip…
Get the chicken strips/chips combo.

You people who attend the VFL today are nuts.

Could be worse, the game could be at Cragieburn (the worst facilities in the VFL)

Could be worse, could be standing on top of the hill at The Hangar.

Hmmm. Looks like there might be public access to “The Deck” (sponsored by Amart). I’ll wander over there at quarter time.

any squad changes?

Wasn’t paying attention and was waiting on wrong platform at Southern Cross station. :grimacing:

So going to miss the start.

Crowd here currently only a few more than at The Hangar for the women’s practice match…

Arrived, cold, fair wind blowing towards the school end.

Good toss to win

Did I say it was cold?
