I’m not sure that some people on this site understand AFL football. The VFL’s only purpose is to prepare players for the senior. The only reasons you would recruit former or current AFL players is because you believe they have the potential to play senior football or provide a professional example for younger players. The results are irrelevant

Was Davey that bad today the stats has him with 19 touches and Nyugen with 11.
I mean on the surface guelfi with 6 touches seems a lot worse

The results may or may not be relevant, but you can’t prepare your tall forwards if the ball never gets into your forward line. How are the midfielders going to learn their craft if they’re on the receiving end of 6 hitouts?

The VFL is not just for preparing players, it’s to set up a winning culture from the ground up. There is no co-incidence that the years our seniors have been crap, our VFL has been too.

I would also suggest to check out our premiership years over the past 40 years, how the VFL team were travelling at the time including the year before. Hell, have a look at the other clubs, the hawthorns, richmonds and collingwoods and see if there’s a pattern. I reckon you may find one.

It’s not irrelevant, far from it. I have no doubt, if we have a successful strong VFL team, our seniors will follow. Ask DJR here, he’s at nearly every senior and VFL game, I’m guessing he’d think VFL success isn’t irrelevant.

I was at the warmup for this game, and then left; and will not be at the “senior” game either.

I was at one of EFC’s best wins across their history today, though!
