VFL - round 7 vs Swans @ Windy Hill - 11am Saturday 10 May 2025

Crossley has also been putting up big numbers for a few years but hasn’t got a look in likely height and professionalism limiting his appeal. Doubt he’d be placing 12 months on his head if he wanted to get on a list

Do you rate dante as a prospect mate? Battled hard tonight. Would love Vigo to get a taste this year

Yeah I rate them both. Dante gave 100% tonight and Port are better off playing him over Sweet.
Agree I’d like to see Vigo get a run in the ones this year at some stage

Aceman is Dante contracted for Port next year? Do you think we would seriously look at chasing him to join his brother? We will need to replace Goldy next year. I don’t think he will be continuing on but if Draper and Bryan stay then we are probably a young ruck man too many when they return form
Injury.

Could Vigo make it playing as a forward?

He signed earlier this year for another 2 years.
Not that I’d chase him if he was available, too close to Vigo in terms of development for me (Though I’m not Aceman)

As to Vigo forward - Showed a bit last year at times, but definitely think Ruck is his go. Perfect foil for Gerreyn, I hope we involve these 2 in alot of our forward planning.

Given Draper/Bryan will be returning from injury we probably need some sort of Goldstein replacement, but I’d be going for an older “break glass” type over a bloke like Dante

It should always be about winning a flag at the top level. Recruiting players to help guys win at VFL level is futile and backwards… Never lose sight of the ultimate prize…

The club doesn’t know how to win finals at any level.

There is no one in the MSD that is gonna make us a finals contender let alone a premiership contender in the AFL, but giving our young developing players a successful environment in the reserves where they can develop in finals pressure is proven to be beneficial to developing success AFL teams

How did Foley and Nguyen go?

It’d be like Simon and Justin, they’d never work together because they will both be good enough for the number 1 role

Match report mentioning a huge game from Tsatas, and excellent performances by Laverde and Gerreyn.

And it would be nice for the club to win anything

What. Any kind of draft is about selecting the best players to develop on the AFL list. It’s not to be used to top up the VFL list. One of the more bizarre posts in recen times.

We already have the 4th youngest list in the comp, and the older guys aren’t setting the world on fire, some like Laverde, Goldstein, Shiel, Guelfi might not be here next year and they’ll be replaced by more 18 or 19yos at the draft making us even younger.

imo we need more mature guys who can provide some protection and experience to the younger ones in the VFL, whilst being depth for the AFL.

Experienced guys like Brew and Crossley would be coming in as depth players who could come into the AFL team if needed, and part of the role of a depth player is to play reserves to a high level.
