VFL - Saturday 15/08 1.05pm vs Sydney Swans @ Windy Hill

That’s a side packed with players in good form, which is to be expected really as we are the form team in the VFL over the last five matches, with five joyful victories capped off by a stunning comeback in a thrilling finish last week,

I haven’t seen that much joy in Blitz post for years! Refreshing, but also kind of unsettling.

If we can’t beat that 12 man Swans team then we don’t deserve finals.

Gerryn has been a test for what feels like the last 5 weeks, getting a joke really

You would hope the cautious approach to Gerreyn means they are giving him another contract and saving him for pre season to be right to go for next year. VS playing unwin in the 1s to see if we persist.

KEEN FOR THIS

Well we seem to reward 4HB/Game types over 30+ possessions/game types (think Jones, Perkins etc) …

So Unwin should be right

I have to go out at 1.30, is there anywhere I can record this game. Or can I rewind the stream when I get back?

Player Thoughts/predictions

McKay - I think he will continue to hold up down back at the level. Think he will be a solid pillar and allow Bourke el hawli and Johnson to thrive with rebound. Hopefully a confidence booster for him to wrap up season.

Bourke - 2 steps forward 1 step back. Last week was a step forward after 2 poor performances. I reckon he’s starting to get there and think he has another good showing today another player/prospect who builds in confidence to wrap up the season for next year.

El hawli - been some high highs and low lows in his games. Reckon he settles down and has a strong consistent performance today. Continues his strong intercepts with minimal turnovers!

Johnson - averages 28 at VFL. Expect him to do that in a canter today. Have rated his defensive work at AFL level without much offensive output and ball in hand. Reckon will have a chip on shoulder after being dropped and expect him to excel today.

Nguyen - I just want to see scoreboard impact from Nguyen. He gives you everything else - intensity, effort, pressure, strength at contest. Just want him to either finish his work or actually get it to a teammate to do so instead of doing all the hard work then coughing the ball up at the end.

Gresham - I’ve said before. Gresham last month and a bit he’s going to have 20 and 2 or output to that effect. Just a shame he is doing it at the end of his contract. Has been a real spark for this VFL program between him and Tsatas!

Edwards - love shifty. Love his work rate when he gets up the ground and flies and clunks his marks. I actually really like the idea of him and McMahon having strong games today. I expect 6+ between them!

Cox - the VFL bully. Hope he just gets through the end of this year and I do hope he has shown he has something to offer going forward and gets a 1-2 year contract. Hope he has a performance that consolidates his form this year.

McMahon - refer comment to Edwards. I just vibe that as a tandem they may cause problems for the swans defenders. I do hope he continues to have a bit of defensive pressure. One who’s papers look stamps but has been such a good VFL contributor hope he gets a chance to play finals for this team at least.

Guelfi - again papers probably stamped. Hope he bobs up for his 2 and provides a spark amongst the smalls. Although I think the talls are the key today.

Blakiston - this is the game on a silver platter for him. I am a big critic of him. Don’t like we drafted a ruck. Wasted time playing him as a defender because he has ‘traits’ he has no defensive craft IMO. We’ve pumped more games into him than I think we should have and he’s contracted for 2 more years. This is an open chance for him to show out in his natural position. No Grundy, green or ladhams. All set up for Blakiston to have a good showing. None of the dumb soft frees. He’s 27yo hope he imposes himself on this contest. Hope he has a ripper game.

Tsatas - 35 and 1 incoming. Player I think who can have the most say in this game. Has dominated VFL this year. Even if he’s out this year think he’s the player in the guts who will be a big driver to if we win this game.

Let’s smash these blokes.

the full replay usually is available later after highlights, but probably not for a few days annoyingly.

i forget if the afl streams allow rewinding

McLean, Sheldrick, Rosas Jnr and Cunningham is some pretty decent AFL quality. We will need to be better than we were against the Pies.

any ideas on how to download them, I’m a bit thick when it comes to tech stuff. I have a son here who could probably do it, what do you use to download it?
