VFLW - miscellaneous comments and articles

Note that it is theoretically possible for us to miss finals:

  • We lose to the Cats
  • Port beat Hawks
  • Pies beat Willy

Each one of those is notably unlikely.

Except in the bizarro-est of worlds, we are finishing fifth and travelling for our elimination final versus fourth.

Only Hawf and Norf can finish fourth. They are equal on points, but Hawf’s percentage is more than 100 greater than Norf’s!

We need to barrack hard for Port to beat Hawf next week. It’s by far the least implausible upset from the three games listed above.

Also, Port winning farks Fark Carlton AND farks Collingwood . Win-win-win result.

FCFC scored 38 in the fist quarter, and 39 in the next three quarters.

While they have the final game next week (the Port-Hawks game finishes half an hour before they start) and therefore will know what their target might be, that slacking off today might yet hurt.

Ladder with 2 of the 3 cheating AFLW teams removed.

All of the mathematical chances enumerated here:

Fark Carlton going back to a (near?) VFLW squad, with 14 AFLW players dropped.

Ange Gogos is out with an 8-week hamstring.

I make that an even downgrade of both teams.

KILL THEM, DAREBIN.

P.S. A little birdie tells me the AFL scolded Fark Carlton after the game versus us. No more than that, though, and FCFC just put more AFLW players in over the following fortnight.

Fark Carlton and go Darebin!

This notably hurts our “second chance” hopes, in which Port need to beat the Hawks.

Note: it’s one week with an early plea. Earliest we can face Port is 3 weeks away.

The AFL knows there is only way to promote the VFL.

The probably loss of Ava Seton to suspension is offset by Geelong AFLW nicking Caitlin Thorne from the Hawks, effective immediately :white_check_mark:

(from 12 games)

Gabrielle Biedenweg-Webster taken from Willy by Freo AFLW.

Biedenweg-Webster will look to make the move over to Western Australia over the next week and commence training with the team upon her arrival.

Footscray unchanged team vs Willy.

Port

In: Williams, Slater
Out: Clarke (inj), Seton (susp)

Not awful ins, but huge outs.

[one week late, I find this 95% written post]

ChristinaBernardi joined the ‘State of Play’ finals preview podcast. Included praise for Lily “1%” Bateman, and confirmation that Manfre has got a college sponsorship to presumably extend her gridiron / touch footy involvement.

No outright statement, but suggestion Christina might be in media next year. She’ll be back in future weeks’ podcasts.

Everyone had Norf as favourite this week and for the premiership.

Alyce Collette off Rookie Me Central has just discovered this “Tasmin” Crook player. Thinks she came out of nowhere.

WTF.
