Nope.
3.7.25 loses to 4.5.29
We threw that away.
THanks to DJR and co for reporting
Port are leading Casey 7.0.42 to 4.4.28 in the last.
If that continues, we are very likely playing Casey at Casey the first week of finalsā¦
Well, I think I covered the theme of the game well enough above: we controlled much of the game and coulda/shoulda kicked 10 goals today.
Based on today, North (even with stacks of AFLW top-ups) are very little chance to beat the Saints and Port Melbourne and fall into finals. And weāve almost certainly lost our chance for a home final.
Unlike the VFL match that followed, this was not soul-destroyingly woeful; just frustrating that we didnāt convert our advantages into scores. Both the North VFLW and VFL liked to drop an extra defender back, and we were not too smart in reacting to that.
Our defence was fine: in particular, Ahrens controlled CHB as you would expect her to do.
Davies and Friswell created or were involved in many of our attacksā¦ that didnāt get converted.
Prespakis was forward the first half and mid the second. Not the tidiest game, was involved in several of those costly misses, but reasonably busy.
Stepnell did not have a good day. Momentum swung as she went in and out of the ruck.
Nanscawen and Ugle were their usual selves, throwing themselves into contests like crazy people.
Female field ump was being paid by the free, but since she got almost every decision right I am not complaining.
Selection for next week will be interesting, with Vic Metro U19s playing Queensland. That could mean Lennox Friswell Yassir Prespakis out (and no Crowley or Gillard in). Snell and maybe Finning (Vic Country players) could come back in. Please let Frew be back too; we have missed her ability to create goals out of nothing these past three weeks.
The Pies let Darebin score a lot, relatively speaking, before beating them 72-21.
The other two games were upsets: Port beat Casey 49-35 based to a large extent on awesome accuracy, and Geelong (who I rate as the best team weāve played) somehow fell to Fark Carlton 22-31. Port are abruptly perhaps favourites to finish second rather than fifth (Geelong play the Pies next week).
Willy host the Hawks tomorrow, and the Saints host Footscray. The Saints play the three sides directly below them over the next two weeks, so their big percentage lead is NOT enough for them to have locked in finals.

And here is The Langfordās response to that image:
My niece was surprised by and definitely enjoyed the tackling and assorted brutality, but when it came to the end she was very much the sarcastic āthereās always next timeā¦ā
(Sheās been to three games of footy in her life; the other two games were AFL and were us beating them, soā¦ fair enough.)
