Weird game. We dominated disposal, it was low-pressure, but we still couldn’t hit a target (person, or goal face) to save our lives.

Yes, it was wet grass all the way through… but no excuse.

Willy didn’t use the wind any better than us, but leaving Stepnell and Whiting (when in defence) to clean everything up and then kick long is very very silly.

Compare the inside fifties and count of scores for each team…

This was worse than kicking 4.11 versus them in round two.

They had just two players get more than 10 disposals (Whiting a late rush to be their top on 14).

I don’t see the point of playing Richardson if she is only going to be second ruck. Just play Russell.

Holy crap. We had 13 inside fifties to 1 in the last quarter, and scored just 1 point!

Morrow bossed it, Mahony was as usual all over it.

Orritt and Hunt had the game-high 10 tackles each.

Interestingly, Tassiopoulos topped the clearances (6, ahead of Thorneycroft Hunt and Mahony on 4). She would push up as the extra mid – trade-off versus Stepnell’s game-leading 6 rebound fifties.

Jayda 0 frees for and 4 against. SHE’S NOT A RUCK.

QUARTER ONE

• The obvious deliberate is ignored, and the following less-obvious one is paid
• 9:15 impressive burst of speed by ChristinaBernardi to force the on-the-full
• Captains Chaston and Straford great contest in this first quarter.
• Orritt applying huge pressure.
• 18:20 check out TayHartAluni’s tap over her opponent to herself
• We didn’t do much wrong in the first quarter. But what we did also didn’t get us within 30m of our goals very often.

QUARTER TWO

• This week we are being told Stepnell has “fluoro green wheels”… I’m guessing that will not be repeated.
• These first five minutes when the wind pointed to our goals… some of those blue shorts would have been brown.
• 4:55 that is a freaking ridiculous path/bounce to set up their goal.
• 7:20 fark that ump and his inability to judge deliberate out of bounds. Chaston and Marshall are EXTENDEDLY MANIFESTLY DEMONSTRATIVE ‘cause only a moron would not see that. Maybe he didn’t like the yobbo doing the same arms-wide-open at him.
• 15:00 for Tassiopoulos clearing to Tay CLUNK. She also took another impressive running mark in the first quarter. Perfect kick with the sideways wind, too.
• Hmm, so the score went 2-19, then this goal, then 2-19.
• 17:00 Stats don’t tell the full story. Morrow and O’Bryan end up as a near tie stats-wise, but Morrow has been dominating to this point. The stats also don’t record her elbowing Melnikas in the face at this point!
• 18:50 sFord gets smashed a bit over five metres from the ball. It’s marginal as to whether it was a snipe or not. AFL Tribunal would give the Seagull four weeks for bracing at the last moment.
• I’m consequently a bit kinder now (than I was on the day) to sFord 50 seconds later when she takes her eye off the ground ball due to the looming presence of Whiting.

QUARTER THREE

• 10:30 ump does not give a ■■■■ that Orritt got smashed. I guess his thinking was it was within five metres of the ball
• Otherwise, this is just one of MANY nearly-goals in this quarter (this year across two games: Willy 9.9 and EFC 5.15!)… and we haven’t got to our last quarter InsideFiftyPalooza yet.
• 14:00 deadset took Richo on and was caught. Ump says no.
• Look in the background around 19:00 when the stoppage in on the wing – it’s 3 vs 5 in our forward line. As a team who play on an often-sillily-windy ground, Willy know all about how to stack the backline even when wind is not the issue.

QUARTER FOUR

• Orritt gets her first C”B”A for the year!
• Let’s count missed chances this quarter: 1) Orritt snap from dangerous spot drifts across the face.
• 2. Perkins kick to one-on-one twenty metres out; nearly bounces over the top for a Bernardi goal.
• 28 seconds lost because of bad throw-in.
• 3. Manfre runs free on the boundary and her “centring” kick is to the boundary line.
• 4. Manfre snap shot goes nowhere near the goals
• 5. Ford snap is on-the-full.
• 6. Perkins clunks… and misses. This is the sole score for the quarter, across both teams.
• 7. Perkins gets it inside fifty to another one-on-one for Bernardi – but further out than last time.
• 8. Hunt kick inside goes to the boundary 30 out rather than 20m in front of the goals
• 9. Perkins feeds Melnikas and her snap is… out-of-bounds.
• Perkins is having a big quarter!
• -1) The sole Willy inside fifty is intercept-marked by Chaston 49.9m out.
• 10. Fifty-metre bomb way over the top of everyone by Chaston; we don’t win the race back, because HartAluni is a defender this quarter.
• 11. Another big torp by Chaston swings wide and is picked off by Willy.
• 12. Hunt set shot blown out-on-the-full. Didn’t come off the boot to the left as required. Mum (?) is top of the stairs in the stand in the background.
• 13. Hunt mark 30m out just punched away.
• 14. Orritt set shot. OK, this one was legit outside her range.

If we meet Willy again before the Grand Final, it will be at Willy.

At the game I tend to gloss right over Hunt as a mid.

While she faded as the game went on, Orritt > sFord in the below. And Morrow was legit good.
