QUARTER TWO

0:00 after 33 quarters of failure, we finally get a MMMM CBA: Morrow, Melnikas, Mahony, and Molan
1:00 best movement of the day: Molan to Chaston running past, runs 15 and long kick to Ryan being smelly on her own, kicks long for Tassiopoulos to run onto it, (not a very) professional push-in-the-back is conceded.
Tassiopoulos went on to completely fark up the ~~putt~~ kick.
3:00 is just typical play. We win the ball (not much problem doing that), and we immediately kick it Norf on their own. See also 3:25: who was Robinson kicking this to?!? Barba didn’t have to move.

3:50 sack that ump. Run-down, arms at chest level, rolls her. Nah, give the free to Norf.
Orritt doesn’t give up, almost takes her down when she plays on.
4:15 even when Dojiok gets the free 15m out, they have to take advantage and completely botch it. Infectious! Well done, Porter.
7:10 nice run and kick by Cox. The umps have widely-differing opinions during this quarter as to what constitutes a high tackle.
7:55 that’s not ■■■■■■■ fifteen, mate. It might not have even been half of fifteen. Worse, commentary apologises to the ump.
8:10 top-of-head-butt to Mahony’s face
9:20 Tierney tackled by Ford, overtly throws it out to a team-mate. Nothing to see here, move along.
11:00 the same ump pays another short “mark”. The resulting Hosking goal is a kick in the arse for us, because we’d been putting together some nice movement of the ball this quarter.
Dojiok then gets her longest-range kick on goal, and finally converts.
Molan dominating for a while in the middle, but there is not much to kick to forward.

QUARTER THREE

Melnikas and her Evil Twin are very briefly on each other! I’m sad no one gets that joke, 25 months later.
The umps can see into the future this quarter; they keep blowing their whistles when the ball is yet to reach the marker. The commentators are mostly slow enough that the first sentence in this bullet point appears to actually be true.
6:00 ump is a softy. Tells Dojiok to get behind her mark; Dojiok says no thanks and plays on. Call it back, ya gutless piece of crap.
This may or may not be “one of the better places to play football”… but it’s a horrendous place to watch football.
11:00 Hobb’s spin in open space is so confusing. Sadly her first VFLW kick is off to the right and not a goal. Certainly has no problem with range; that was carrying almost fifty metres.
12:10 Tassiopoulos working her way into the game these last few minutes. THAT umpire needing to be over-ridden for the high hit is pretty damn poor.
13:25 Dojiok drops the mark but that second effort is

As we approach three-quarter-time I see Prpic for the second time of the day. At least this one makes her 1-1 for wins.

QUARTER FOUR

Was hoping the audio sync would be fixed for the last quarter, but no.
ONYA HOBBS!
4:10 not textbook-bouncing by Cox there; it came back to her, though.
5:45 that was almost the funniest goal of all time; goalkeeper was flat-footed, and just barely got a finger to it
15:45 This ump got over-ruled a lot in this game… but not as often as she should have been.
18:25 Camera cropped out some yobbo celebrating the goal.
Our last sequence for the game was emblematic of us selling ourselves into trouble…

Port Melb fell over the line versus the Saints, and pushed us back to fifth.

Norf will beat the Pies next week, and pass us if we lose. Casey… well, my model says Darebin wins!

The top three teams should win next week.

Norf probably need to win all of their last five games to make finals (and potentially kick us out, if we do the bare minimum and only beat FCFC and Geelong). Their Round 14 game looks to be the biggest challenge – versus Footscray.
