But surely I can “discuss” his poor music tastes
If the drummer in rush has four arms can’t he give one the Def Leppard drummer. He’s just being selfish.
Has it ever occurred to you that you just might be a cardigan wearing old fuddy-duddy?
No…for the simple fact that I don’t wear a cardigan
Also, I fail to see any relevance in your question in terms of our differing opinions on Rush.
That might be difficult given that he died five years ago.
Can the band heart help here?
Art for arts sake is boring.
I don’t care if you’re jazz-trained or using weird time signatures…
Now you’re making me say screw Rush. And I don’t want to do that.
They are appropriately rated.
They’re no Supertramp.
They are so far ahead of Supertramp (who I really like) it’s not funny.
Apart from respect from audiophiles, wrong.
So very wrong.
They’re not even cult.
Like your best mates.
They’re a footnote.
I love how you come in with such definitive statements, provide no evidence to support the statement…and then just expect people to believe you’re right.
New flash!!!
I’m not buying it.
But I’ll leave it there as this has all the hallmarks of another Gilmour/Waters discussion…and you know how well that goes when we get started
Many choices, but this is a freakin’ Boist of an album.
Hmmm…maybe I should have chosen Silk Degrees?
I’m right because it’s me saying it.
Well…if you put it that way…
I don’t find Rush any more or less w@nky than myriad other “technical wizardry” acts. At least they had the good sense to largely avoid the saxophone unlike Supertramp. I’d sooner listen to Rush than other big-drawing “niche acts” like Dave Matthews Band, Grateful Dead or Phish.
The problem with Rush is, and always will be, Geddy Lee’s voice. I just don’t find that shrill, nasal tone at all appealing… that’s OK, plenty disagree. It’s why my favourite track of theirs will always be YYZ… being an instrumental and all… Their tunes are OK enough… chances are I’d like them far more with a different singer.
Back on topic… found myself in a shopping centre with some time to kill on Wednesday, so popped into JB Hi Fi for the first time in a long time.
60-70 bucks seems to be the going rate for a new vinyl record these days. Fark me!!..
Hey Wim…see the above post from Bakes if you’re after the opinion of a
I ain’t see nuthin’ to dispel that theory.
I know it’s because I don’t understand music theory, but goddamn…the outro of Sir Psycho Sexy rocks my world.
