Vinyl LP's & 45's

I might just save myself the scurrying-around and wait a couple of days till copies show up on EBay for a couple of grand each…

There are a few good ones in there but nothing I need.

I’m intrigued by the XTC Live Boot. It’s a 1981 Live Show which was a radio simulcast at the time. It’s been available (in pretty good quality) in XTC trading circles for years. It’s also up on Youtube.

Will this be that much better quality to justify the rooting around I’d have to go through to grab a copy, not to mention the expense? I’m not at all convinced… there’s nothing I’ve read to suggest it’s from a different source than the radio broadcast. Remastered maybe, and with “sleeve notes” from the band members. Again though I have to ask myself… am I that bothered over a concert recording I’ve listened to many times?

I have zero interest in live concert recordings, but enjoy Peel Sessions and the like. But yeah depends on the source used, and fark paying huge prices cos they’ve put it on three colour swirl glow in the dark vinyl or whatever.

eh, maybe nas god’s son. might go look in one or two shops but if i miss it then i miss it.

the sophie ellis bextor and public service broadcasting ones would be of interest if i didn’t already have them

Nothing of any major interest. Live Floyd from 75 maybe… but its a bootleg recording… so maybe not.

Nah… I’m saving up for a new wah pedal anyway.

Interestingly the UK RSD list has a reissue of Sydney band Eastern Dark’s classic 7” Julie Is A Junkie. Also Madness’ BBC sessions, and a reissue of Modern Eon’s Fiction Tales.

US list has Blur Live At The Budokan. Weezer’s very first studio sessions straight from the multi track analogue reels.

The flip side, Johnny And Dee Dee is equally awesome.

They used to open their set with a Ramones cover, but playing each song once only and in chronological/album listing order.

When Hard Ons last came to Japan, I was watching the opening band and they played Johnny And Dee Dee. Great to see the single had some international reach: released in France, reissued in the UK, covered in Japan.

Just discovered that Epic/Sony in Japan released Stimulation on Australia-shaped vinyl. Ok, I need to track this down.

Wimm currently salivating reading this…

I did laugh.
That’s a bit cringe.
Still like the song, though.

Fantastic album

Dunno about you, but if ever I’m in New York I’m going here.

Saw this photo the other day…

Man, did I sink some money into this place? Saw it go from a single shopfront, to a double, then back to a single in its dying days…

By rights, I should’ve been a shareholder.

I was such a frequent customer that they gave me a keyring which entitled me to 10% discount off anything I purchased.

My 3RRR membership already provided the same deal so it wasn’t really a benefit.

Pretty sure it used to be called Gaslamp in its early days.

You wouldn’t be trying to … ummm … gaslight us would ya?
