Just got home from the brewey to some unexpected carnage. The aircon has leaked on to half of my 45s. Damaging a lot of original paper sleeves. Im a bit glum. But it coulda been worse.

Made the mistake of lending this treasure to someone who will remain nameless who transported it on their rear dash on a warm sunny day. Amazingly it still plays despite the warps but if you watch it on the turntable you risk getting seasick.

Books and records are on my ‘no loan’ list. When I was younger and knew no better I learned the hard way. And a rear parcel shelf for vinyl begs the question- what the actual???

I’ve been voraciously absorbing all of Khruangbin’s YouTube content over the past week, and there is lots of it.
Some of it is in very good quality.
This recording in particular, has a wonderful mix of music from their first 2 albums…
When I saw it was available on Vinyl, I jumped on it.
As stated previously. I’m a sucker for coloured Vinyl.
Im awaiting delivery from JB of their album ‘Con Todo El Mundo’
I can’t get enough of that reverb heavy Fender tone Mark Speer has dialled in on his guitar.
I realised after a few hours listening…“this is predominantly what I want to listen to”.
Distant background vocals, with Mark’s guitar taking on the role of the vocalist.
Laura Lee lays down simple and effective grooves, whilst the drummer DJ has become his own cult, in a cult band.
Seriously, some of the online commentary about his effortless perfect timing are hilarious.
He is a machine though.
For me, Con Todo El Mundo is the best album I’ve ever heard.
Whilst the categorisations of the band’s music are many and varied (funk, 70’s Thai Surf, Spaghetti Western, Californian Psychedelia to name a few), I personally feel its music for the soul.It makes you feel good.
Its been on repeat play utilising Tidal thru IEM’s, thru my living room speakers, and on a Tube Headphone Amp.
I continue to pick up nuances in Speer’s playing, and the interaction between the bass and drums.
I hope the Vinyl recording is a good one

So, last minute thing, got it 33% off what they were asking. One of only 300 worldwide. Original Indonesian soundtrack to The Raid. If you haven’t seen it and like martial arts/action movies, do yourself a favour, non-stop action the whole way through. Not actually worth all that much, but rarity may help if I on sell at a later date.

If anyone has ever wanted Nirvana’s Nevermind in their vinyl collection but can’t find or afford an early copy, try a “Back To Black” 180g remastered version from 2017.
After being dissatisfied with both a ‘91 Euro press (and it being scratched also didn’t help) and a ‘96 Japanese press, this standard-priced brand new copy sounds (insert chef’s kiss). It puts the others to shame.
You have to be careful cos there are a few slightly different ones that look identical at first glance but actually come from different pressing plants (you want the Bernie Grundman or “BG” cut pressed by Pallas in Germany) so if anyone wants Discogs links for more details let me know.

There are 3 “Back In Black” variations listed from 2017, and it seems stores stock them. The way I was able to check I was getting the right one was the two lines of small print at the bottom on the back sleeve, so check the images and text provided in the link.
I’ve got the first edition. First time I heard it went out and bought it.

Don’t be. I’m not insisting on mint or near mint on any of these. Most are just VG or VG+, although The Raid has only been played once. The bloke selling it is more in to death metal and related genres and this was not quite what he expected.
I’m not an audiophile, I just love records.
I have been known to buy G.
