My voting justified. Midfielders other than Merrett and Setterfield donât deserve votes for that game.
Surprised Draper who had 22 touches, 4 contested marks at critical points in the game, 5 clearances and 470 metres gained playing on Gawn couldnât get a game over Nankervis who had 17 touches, 0 contested marks, 5 clearances and 21 metres gained.

Stats is one thing. Contested marking was good. But he is in the side to ruck and Gawn owned him on the ruck contests
If Draper had broken even in the ruck, heâd have been big for mine. His presence and especially ball use was outstanding. Some of his kicks were amazing. And his turn away from Redman (instead of giving him the obvious ball) not only broke Riversâ (?) ankles, but more generally cleared Redmanâs path.
He got killed for centre clearances but still a very good outing.
He had 6 coaches votes to Gawnâs 2. Nankervis didnât get a single vote. Was clearly the most influential big man on the ground against the best in the biz, think he should have been in the team of the week.
Yeah agree with comparison to Nank
This sounds silly but coaches votes are not a good guide. Two independent voters with their own motives.
Particularly when they donât agree with the line youâre pushing eh?
