Solly knocked us back to stay at Gold Coast. Not sure it helped his senior coaching ambitions to sit behind Worsfold, Rutten and Caracella in the pecking order
Smart move in my opinion.
Hmm, would have liked Solly around some of the more precious players.

Well yes he’d be essentially demoting himself as he is the senior assistant at GC
But he is also not really helping himself climb the ladder being there.
What, the same way he’s hardened up GC over the last 6-7 years?

When you put it like that it’s a very good move. Very different positions re work you do, and position on the totem pole.
I get what you say, but in the context of Solly, he has been coaching at the one poor club in a non football state for 8-9 years. Its mostly the desperate need for diverse experience. It pretty much the same in all careers.
In that context, I realise he has been going for coaching jobs, but he has also been missing out, and he might just have to go back a step and get experience at a big Melbourne club, before he can go ahead and coach a team at the highest level.
