#10 St Francis de Agressi - up to 2021 round 2

He is fine. His endurance will be fine. People adding 2 plus 2 and getting 5

How?

Scouts said he wasn’t as fit as the other boys, watching him on the eye he gets more tired than a lot of the other boys, and we’re making him do exclusively running at training

2 + 2 = 4

Yep. Nothing wrong with a kid at his age, needing to work on the tank. And when it’s what all the draft watchers/recruiters etc said was about his only problem at this stage, you would figure that’s the sort of training he would do first up.

He’s not Brian.

He said he was cooked by the end of the season. Going by how much he played it makes sense.

Definitely. Very taxing year on an 18 year old body.
And on the other hand you have Carlisle who didn’t work hard enough and had to find other ways to be cooked.

Holy sh*t comment of the year!!!

I just hope we manage him correctly, we don’t need him pinging hammies for two years. Give him time, build him slowly - 2017 is when he should start to go hard.

Because people are freaking out like its a long term weakness that will effect his career. I’m backing the fitness staff to get him into shape

Kids with big tanks, Kav, O’Brien, Steinberg and Ambrose, pitty they are crap at footy.

Francis is a big boy, so give him some time to build some kind of tank. We have to be patient. It took Hurls 5 years to get to AA level. ( I reckon he got to that level about halfway through the 2014 season.)
And he's a growing boy which sine pointed out previously, I would also hope that things like Glandular fever and the like have been eliminated for his lack of endurance. Would hate to see him pushed into chronic fatigue. But hopefully totally jumping at shadows there.

The upside is that if he is growing still and is as talented as indicated, we could have stolen the best KP in the draft with a bit of luck.

So I’m with you Chris, just give the boy time and let him “grow” into his potential and start pushing when his body is ready for it.

Not that damn peer pressure again. Check with ASADA first ffs!

It’s a gateway to more extreme forms of fatigue.

Sounds like the coaching staff are planning for him to play a lot of footy this year. You often see kids eased in to it and given a year or more to build their tank and then get more fitness in the two's during the year but with the workload he is on it seems they are fast tracking him to be ready for round 1. He will be fine, he is a fairly decent size and didn't play the last bit of the season so he is starting behind the 8 ball so to speak

One man’s “fast tracking to Rd 1 in the seniors” is another’s “he is not even where the other kids are and is getting smashed so as to get him ready for senior VFL footy.”

How does one get pushed into chronic fatigue?

I am sure the kid will be fine, he is in the correct environment, with good doctors and sports specialists around him. Not something we should be worrying about.

In saying this and in answer to your question.

Its a very real possibility, what Scarey is saying has Merret. His a kid, still growing, and has gone through a hell of a lot of over the past year especially with his brother. I have been battling chronic fatigue for 5 years, let me tell you it is not pretty.

Most people who get it, have pushed the limits too hard and for too long, often (but no always) there is an underlying condition that they where not aware of. Glandular fever for example as Scarey said.

Having it myself I have talked to many people with the condition. Every case is different, but there is one thing we all have in common. We where all highly motivated, highly driven, and basically burnt ourself’s out to the point where it takes years if ever (in some cases), for our body’s to fully recover.

Usually an underlying condition, combined with high stress, (both physical and mental) are at the root of the cause.

Are they? I haven’t seen anyone saying that.
I think it’s realistic to suggest he’s not going to play heaps of games early, but that’s about it. Denying what seems pretty obvious isn’t going to change it, either way.

I actually see it the opposite.

I reckon they think he is good to go besides one element.

He is working way harder than anyone else. Why would they do that if they were just going to ease him in like the others.

I reckon they are working on him hard pre Christmas wirh a view that if he tracks well he plays round one.

He is physically imposing and we can see what he does with the ball and against grown men. If he gets fit enough why wouldn’t they aim round 1?

Like how a guy doing extra kicking would suggest his kicking’s no issue.

Huh?

I’m saying his fitness is his only issue. Otherwise he is cherry ripe. So why not get that right and push for round 1.

He’ll be right, doesn’t eat Hungry Jacks or catches taxis.

I was at training this morning. He is going to be one big unit. Massive legs. The new guys didn’t do a lot today except for Gach. He was fully involved and the poor bugger looked knackered at times but is a really good mover. Langford looks so much stronger now. Wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a big impact next season.

Sorry to hear about your battle. One of my best mates was struck down by it from her mid teens to early 20’s. I don’t need to tell you how debilitating it is. I didn’t know there had been a connection between it and pushing the limits. Admittedly it was 20 years ago when she was struggling so a lot does happen in that kind of time frame. While she was quite sporty she wasn’t pushing the limits. Anyway, the good thing about life is we are always learning something new.

Hope you’re heading in the right direction.

Nah. The spongy floors will sort out everything.
