He’s 28 years old and has always been a fringe player. Two with a trigger would have been more than fair.
Apparently he has met with Essendon people including Brad before he was sacked.
He is meeting with us this week also isn’t he? Along with Ross Lyon.
The media have suggested that he is meeting with us this weekend as he is staying down in Melbourne for a few days. It is a 10 day break for the Lions now.
Most suggest he’ll go to Collingwood. Unless he really is looking to Hodge it why would he go to Tullamarine instead? Anyway we’ve got Fiorini in the Hodge role![]()
I don’t know why anybody would go to Collingwood, oldest list in the comp, can barely hold onto 8th prob miss finals and no ability to refresh the list because Tassie is going to dilute the talent pool. If I’m young and looking for a place to build into a long career with club success in the next 5-8, Collingwood is not where I’m looking.
I was tyre’d watching him.
Excellent operation, best player in the comp, great coach, great facilities, sustained success, ability to regenerate list over the stretch and attract good players. Sure if the alternative is a surging young Hawthorne or something, but a dead end like EFC for the past 20 years or another serial under performer with limited membership and resources? Nah. And we were discussing an older player, not a younger player. Neale will go where there’s money and a decent short to medium future, unless, as I said, he’s got a real urge to build another club up. He doesn’t strike me as that type and he doesn’t have the Hodge/Matthews connection.
Why do I feel like I’m the only person not being paid to be useless?
Cause you do it for free![]()
Came from a club that has played two finals in their history, and will likely miss this year. That’s the kind of successful club we want to poach leaders from to teach our kids…
He’s played VFL every year of his career and hasn’t been in the leadership squad since about 2019 odd.
Stop talking so it doesn’t show at top of thread please.
Delist!
would be a medical retirement if anything.
Don;t delist guys with 3 years left on their contract for no reason.
Would make a great VFL captain.
No. We need to be reminded how stupid we are
If Neale has coaching aspirations then a three year stint at Essendon may well be perfect to enable him to show his abilities in building a team basically from the bottom up. If we are to lose both Merrett and Ridley and so how manage to move Parish on as well, then there’s plenty of room for Neale to fit in.
Sure, and i’m all for it. Just reckon he’s more likely to want continued success rather than starting from scratch. But i do hope he’s got the Hodge approach in mind, we need every bit of help
