Welcome to Essendon - Cillian Bourke

I think you mean “in the mould of most of the great teams in history”…

I’ve never watched a single second of Gaelic but he’s my favorite player of all time.

Opened this thread wondering what the negative take would be. Cheers.

Sorry not trying to be negative just providing facts.

I hope Bourke kills it and makes the grade.

I’m interested to know the development resources that go into an Irish recruit. What are the specifics in how it takes them away from others?

I’m quite sure it’s pronounced Bk

I remember McBride i actually thought he looked alright, we always have a heap of tall defenders at the club though so never got a senior game. The guys that seem to work from Ireland are the smaller players with speed.

Good size, has pace and is a skilful left footer

Starting to see a pattern here with Matt Rosa

Got to teach them the fundamentals. How to kick, handball, tackle, positioning etc. Would take a lot of one on one coaching to get them up to speed asap. So just takes away a development coach from the rest of the group. So it’s an investment

Watch which journo posts this story first. They will be the one getting all their info from Blitz.

I know it was officially either King’s County or Queen’s County before the early 20’s but then the Irish turfed the Poms and gave them back their Irish names. The other county being Laois, which is the home of Zach Tuohy.

Obviously he’s a long shot like any cat B, but it’ll be fun if the tigers’ completely uncalled for bid on El Achkar results in us getting a good player we wouldn’t otherwise have had room for.

Please don’t kill me - but can’t we have 3 Cat Bs and we have 1? Wouldn’t HEA and this guy both have fit?

I do recall you can only have one Irishman at a time (isn’t it?)

They dropped it from 3 down to 2 when they shrunk list sizes in 2020/2021. There used to be a cat B restriction on Irish players, but they got rid of it a few years ago, possibly the same time?

Edit: I did just double check and you can technically have more than 2 cat B rookies, but that reduces the number of normal rookies you can have, so it doesn’t make any difference to total list size.

Learn some Gaelic, people.

It’s pronounced “Combine Harvester”.

And now I know that New York has a team that plays in Gaelic football competitions in Ireland. Real Australia in Eurovision vibes.
