Welcome to Essendon! Pick #5

Woohoo!

Bombers have turned picks 44,24, Melksham and Carlisle
into
picks 5,23, Leuenberger & Bird
#winning

Stupid Melbourne trying to take our Midfield target though…

A bust in terms of output, yes. But hard to blame recruiting staff for chronic injuries after he was drafted. More a case of bad luck really. McAlister & Bradley on the other hand....

Year we had #2 and #5 and we got Heffernan and McAllister. Though from memory the Gumbleton year sucked nearly as bad with 3 early picks all ending up duds.

What pick was Lachie Hanson? He hasn’t turned out too bad. At the time of that draft plenty here puching for Hanson to be selected. l opted for Gumby.

Pick after Gumby
Funnily enough, he’d be a really good fit as a third tall defender in our side atm but not much we can do about it now!

And also pick 62 + Giles for 57 (guessing 57 will be McKernan upgrade)

Man, hats off to Dodoro on this one. 4 picks in top 25 that’s is a very very good effort and finally some reward. If only that illiterate judas had have had the same attitude as Carlisle did we may have gotten a decent pick last year too.

Hope not. Can't we just use the last pick to upgrade? Why bother upgrading 63 to 57 if it's our last pick. 57 might get us Coglan, who'd we'd have played ahead of a few of our main listers this year if we could have, or someone else with upside. I'd be very surprised if we don't delist a few more and go to the main draft with real intent.

I was assuming that was our last pick. The 5-pick upgrade would have just been to get rid of a contracted player off our list and not have to pay him out.

Rookie players are no longer picked up in the national draft. So you don’t need a pick to upgrade anyone. (See last year’s draft).

Didn’t we upgrade Ambrose in the National Draft last year?

Not that it matters. You could take picks all the way through to 180 and then upgrade with your pick after that at 200 couldn’t you? As long as you had the list spot? So who cares

Welcome to Essington James Davies and Shane Harvey

Nup, last year was the first time they changed it. They still announce it then, it just doesn’t say “pick 123: Patrick Ambrose (upgrade)”

Gotta change something, after all.

Number 5…IT’S ALIVE!!!

Hoping that Parish will be pick 4 or 5. Damn Dees trying to steal our talen.

Darcy Parish looks like Tim Brooke-Taylor.. born to play for Melbourne if anyone ever was...

Probably a gun I will regret we don’t get, would not hate it we got him.

Rookie draft pick > Andrew Lovett > pick 16 > Jake Carlisle > pick 5

Plus Williams beat Carlton single-handedly once.
