Discovering that the line is,
Love is a race run by two
…rather than what I always what it was,
Love is a race from my tomb

Which is obviously so much better.

Went for a quick fly fish in a small stream.

Found a two m (ish) piece of approx 20 lb braid busted off. The line was dangling across the stream between two logs and had a sinker and size 4/0 snapper hook on it.

It was never catching a trout, but it could easily have killed a bird or platypus.

The owner could easily have waded out to retrieve it, although they’d have gotten wet without waders.

There any chance it’s come from further upstream and just rested in the spot you found it?

The way a long bit of line was stretched across the stream perpendicular to the current line from the sinker, I’d say almost none. It was straight across from a spot you can drive to.

Not sure what difference that would make, other than maybe reasonabiloty of retrieving it.

Flies!

As someone who walks on a daily basis, this time of year is a nightmare. Every walk I’m pestered by the dirty little farkers. Every year, the bastards get more and more persistent too.

Once upon a time a wave of your hand would shoo them away. Not now. Noooooooooo. They just shrug it off and come in over and over from a different angle.

It used to be mainly your face and back would be attacked. These days, every farking orifice is fair game - your eyes, your ears, your mouth…

FARK THEM! We’ve developed AI, we’ve launched people into outer space. How can we not have eliminated goddamned flies?!?!?!

As a fellow daily walker, I know exactly what you’re talking about.

Aerogard is next to useless and not as strong as Bushman, which has a higher level of DEET.

However, the best insect repellent I’ve tried is one called Nature’s Botanical which is an organic product whose active ingredients are rosemary and cedarwood.

It’s in a cream base and doesn’t require a lot to be effective. Some flies will still approach and land on you, but go away immediately.

The other alternative is wear one of those fine net things that slip over your cap/hat and cover your face and neck, but I’ve never tried them.

.Where do you get it?

Teams has turned to horseshit about the same time Microsoft admitted that about a third of its code is now written by AI.

(I’m not sure it’s 100% reviewed well by humans)

I buy mine from the local camping/hardware store that was once a George Taylor’s Disposals.

You can also get it online from the manufacturer or through Ebay and probably at pharmacies.

The most Australian thing ever is telling flies to Fark off and expecting them to listen.
But you have to do it twice.

The first time quickly: farkoff.
The second time pointedly: Fark. Off.

Being asked to contribute towards the drinks bill when all I’ve had is water.

I also have an issue with dividing up the food bill and someone has ordered the most expensive item expecting the rest of us to subsidy it by paying equal amount for the bill.

I hate restaurants splitting the bill and including a massive tip.
Rude.

I just want to pay what I ordered and tip if its exceptional service.

Nah, I’m not just talking about ten or fifteen percent.

Some restaurants love split bill.

We never share bills anymore. I hate being guilted into eating or drinking something I don’t want. We have a core group of 6 that do a lot together and we go to dinner with them most weeks and they were always trying to push for a shared bill but thankfully I put an end to it

Mate of mine used to work with a group of financial planners.

Back in the nineties, they’d go out to lunch. Bill would be say $96 for six. They’d split it evenly and agreed to put $20 each as a trip. Just round it up, which was pretty common. But one guy says he’ll put it on his card and take their 5 crayfish.

But he just pays the restaurant $96, so he gets his lunch for nix, plus $4 on top. Kiwi, so you couldn’t expect much more.

Quickly put paid to that method.

Teams has ALWAYS been horseshit.

But Australian institutions, governments and companies love nothing more than giving money to M$ for its inferior products.

It’s gotten worse.
