I think its just autopilot for us blitzers to go ken bruce over any sign we serving up same filth. Its a hairline trigger of emotional suffering for us and not surprised many went bang after yesterday, me included. Cats game will hopefully see them turn up
No pressure on the ball carriers, easy handballs out without pressure.
We purely suck in a contested situation
Soft underbelly
Bingo, we’ve been down this road many times, we know what it looks like and we know where it goes.
Yeah, who would’ve thought a team with 2 Coleman medalists and a Brownlow medalist might turn their form slump around. We’ve got a rising star winner from 2011 to help get us to the prelim.
Yes, well said… theres a song there…
It’ll be a sad song.
takes more than that
No key tall targets yesterday. We need Wright as a mobile tall target and Draper a goal square bull.
Stringer or Caddy depending on Stringer results
Smalls Gresham Hind are locks. The other spot up for grabs
Candidates are resting midfield (Durham Hobbs Perkins Caldwell) or maybe Menzies
Or from left field Roberts who is showing some serious smarts
Roberts will be playing seniors at some point this year, draft steal.
Not sure why he wasn’t taken earlier, he was tipped to go in the 20’s I believe
Stamina isn’t his problem, he’s an elite runner. His issue is his strength in the contest and decision making. Both were talked about during the interview and he agreed he needed to work on these aspects.
As a 200+cm winger he could be an opposition’s nightmare.
Watching the game albeit online via Kayo, to me the major concern was the inability to pick up a man as the ball moved from defense to attack. I struggle to see how this is hard to do. We seem to sit off our opponents playing a zone & teams with quality kicking skills move straight through it. Surely the zone requires players not to play so far of their opponent such that you can’t close the gap.
I could call out many players, but a couple that caught my attention were:
Cox, he is great with his height and endurance on the wing, but a total liability due to his lack of acceleration which allowed players near him to get around him & become an option.
Jones the less said the better. No hardness at all. Everything needs to go right for him to win the ball. How the commentator thought he was great was totally mind boggling. The sooner Caddy gets a run the better. At least he plays with intent.
There is one undeniable fact about our once great club……we are soft! Soft to the very core and fabric of our entire institution. The players are just the physical representation of how soft we are……heartless, headless, soulless……good descriptives for this rabble.
On another point, we tried to become Richmond, stole their coaches and personnel and now it’s West coast……why would you want anyone from West Coast!!! Why don’t we try to find Essendon, the once mighty club who struck fear in the hearts of opposition.
That supplements scandal f*&ked our club, our culture….
I dont know Rustydon. There is a tipping point of talent and weve got a truck load of first round picks on our list.
I still feel this is the year it’s going to happen.
When you have the talent and realise that you can compete with the good teams then something in the mindset/self esteem can click. Carlton clicked last year.
We are close. Thats my personal opinion and we will see. I think this year will be good.
I think Ross Lyon may have revved up his troops for a morale boost after their horror offseason. Good on him. There are no premiership points in Feb though.
I certainly hope you are right….indeed pray you are right. The one thing that I can no longer do is trust this team. I gave it chances after 2017, 2019, 2021 but it just kept kicking me in the guts just as I thought we may have changed……so trust no more, expect little and be surprised if I get more….I simply refuse to get excited, when we win a final again I will allow myself to believe, until then I’ll love them but never trust them.
I left at 3qtr time because I was confident that we would win the flag this year. There was nothing left to see!
I dont think we have the star power and A-grade talent to get us into the top 6 of the ladder. And again we’ve topped up with free agents to remain relevant instead of doing a proper rebuild because we cant ever admit the list is not good enough
Cripps never played finals until last year. Bont couldn’t do anything against the Dees in 2021. Neale couldn’t get the lions over the line last year.
Footy is nothing like the NBA where you could rely on one individual. Four quarter effort wins games nine times out of ten. You need 7-10 top tier talent and at least two on every line in footy, and a good bottom tier, ie that doesn’t drag your team down. There are many champions like Ablett Snr who never won a flag.
We only have Ridley, Merrett, Parish and Langford. Our bottom tier is Laverde, Hind, Heppell, Kelly, all mids bar Parish and Merrett, all forwards bar Langford and Wright.
I think just three players could turn us into a top six side with a decent CHF like JUH, a defensive mid like Dunkley and a small forward like Charlie Cameron.
Alas, that’s a pipe dream and right now it looks like we are going nowhere for next 2-3 years.
Yeah but i dont think many teams have stars now days. One at most. One may emerge for us eg Martin
and Richmond went backwards and lost to us
