James Hird - Self explanatory. We need a champion player in this team. Can play anywhere you need him. Big game player.
Mark Mercuri - We lack class and skill forward of centre and he’s about the best I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Dean Solomon - Need a tough ■■■■. Someone who will make everyone else walk taller knowing he’s got their back if any trouble starts. Sensational finals player too.

Great call. Pre -injuries arguably better than Hird. Possibly started the Essendon Carlton rivalry, with his solo demolition of Carlton at Windy Hill.

He was a bit before my time but watching old games on YouTube I am always struck by how easy Leon Baker made it look. Reckon he’d go okay in today’s game.
