Langford should be #2 or #3. Otherwise fine with the list.
Pretty dire. Durham and Caldwell would struggle to be starting centre mids at many of the top clubs, Ridley can’t stay fit. I mean, we all rate Ridley but it’s been flashes since 2021 odd. Who knows where Parish and Reid would rank if they could stay fit.
And there must be big doubts on when Martin will be fit to play next.
Hopefully, some of the players from the last few drafts can push up onto this list (quickly).
Merrett, some daylight, Martin, quite a lot of daylight, then a long and involved discussion about how we’re including age, potential, fitness, peak form vs current form, structure, value to the team, etc, etc, etc. Knowing they’ll be fit and in the equal best form of their career, to win a single game tomorrow? Probably Ridley, Parish and Langford. If you’re talking about form lines based on 2025 and expectations to contribute all year next year, then Martin’s out and it’s probably something like Merrett, Durham, then… um… something ■■■■■■■ weird like Roberts, Redman, and Duursma?
Assuming all are perfectly healthy
Merrett
Parish
Martin
Durham
Caldwell
HM- Ridley
On current ability only:
1 - Merrett
2 - Martin
3 - Duzz
4 - Caldwell
5 - Duursma/Ridley/Roberts - one of them.
Good topic and good list. Thanks @Dashtur , I agree with your list.
1 Robey
2 Farrow
3 Sharp
4 Konjob
5 El whatever his name is
these players haven’t let me down yet
Not answering the question as it is asked. But I would look at it like this - Any club would love any of these players:
Merrett
Martin
Durham
Caldwell
Caddy
Kako
Roberts
+Reid & Ridley pending they can get fit
Hopefully we can add a few more to that list.
With the greatest of respect because I enjoy & rate your takes around here…
How on earth would you have Duursma as 5, tied with Ridley??
Merrett
Martin
Durham
Ridley
Caddy
I’m staggered how little love Langford gets.
Is Caddy even AFL level yet? Heaps of potential, but if he was producing his current output and was 28 years old, does he have an AFL career?
Same!!!
Agree
But also no one here likes Redman - I do
He gets more attention than he gave that footy that he ran passed to get to the interchange bench.
Yeah fair call. I considered him. Probabky my first honourable mention alongside Parish.
Langford’s best is very good.
If he reads what people here say about him he would think he is John Coleman
Two or three years ago I would have had Redman. He was projecting to be a borderline AA half back. He’s regressed a little I feel.
