Who to poach?

We shouldn’t just be looking at onfield leaders, we seriously need to bolster our coaching department with young, successful, driven, capable development coaches.

If we for some reason double down on Scott, he would need to surrounded with guys who actually know how to develop young guys on and off field, build skills, build confidence and get them playing a functional game plan.

I would ask the AFL if we can use part of our salary cap to offset our soft cap to allow us to pay more for quality coaches.

Good point and they don’t even have to be young.

I’m skeptical that Dean Cox is all that eh. He was struggling when he first started.

but he’s got Leon Cameron and Simon Goodwin at the club m(swans) for some pretty handy assistance.

Last season we addressed fitness and conditioning with changes and investment.

I reckon off field our club is very dialled into this.

Our issues with coaching recruitment is that much like good players, good coaches don’t won’t to come to us because everyone’s career regresses when they do and thanks to the soft cap we can overpay good people to give them a reason to overlook that.

So we get our own sloppy seconds, and coaches nobody else wants.

Also doesn’t help that the coach is a wet plank of wood.

We should poach a ruck, but not for another 3 years. Let’s stick with Bryan and Vigo for the next three years and not waste any more picks and development time on a ruck. Hopefully one of them will come good, if not we should be courting a ruck who is in the 21-24 age bracket now, so that when they in their prime, we are ready to pounce.

Yeah the ruck merry go around will be in full swing

You are going backward if you recruit four players in their 30’s

Melksham turns 35 this year.

He is a bit old and battle weary to commit to for another 2 years.

I hear there’s a kid called “Sardis” (not sure of the spelling) who’s tearing it up in the VFL, maybe we try and get him

Also part of this discussion is leadership development of our current young blokes. We have some very promising leaders amongst them, if be in favour of a structured off season leadership development program for the next few years.

Ditch the old plodders. Culture wreckers.

I reckon Toby Greene ends up at Geelong. They’d use him instead of Ollie Henry or Jack Martin in their forward system, and it does give him a realistic shot at success.

I really rate Broad but Richmond would want to keep him for the reasons we want him and if he does decide to leave Richmond I think he heads home to Perth. Him and Baker together would be great for the Eagles

I’m pretty sure the view is Broad will be going back to WA at the end of this year, even if it means he finishes up as an AFL player.

It’s funny you say that as during the Port game when I speaking to a few parents they indicated to me that Dyson has been a huge influence on all the kids and even some of the older kids that are second or third year players.
Whilst he won’t come out and say it I definitely get the feeling that him and a few others have decided that if the club won’t hand over the keys they’ll just take them

What sort of washed up clown would even entertain joining the club?

Who are you talking about re: old plodders?

Langford, Parish, Setterfield, Gresham, Redman, McKay……………………..
We have plenty

All clubs have a few blokes like that on the list - maybe we have a couple more than others. All AFL level talent.

Parish was BOG. Thought he played well

He played well mostly but defensively is poor and I honestly don’t see him finishing his contract in anywhere near the standard required. I have serious doubts over his body holding up for another 3 years after this.
Hopefully him playing ok currently can drive his price up a little

Draft.

Parish had the second highest pressure acts on the field. Equal highest defensive pressure acts and won 16 contested possies
