Why dont our players develop like Sydney's?

Exactly. All our coaches were around back in early 2000s except Skipworth whom I don’t rate. Dodoro needs to be shown the door. Game has changed since 2001 ppl

Fabric?

thats corporate speak bruv.

You talk about patience but EFC have not rushed players like Langs , Redman Mutch Long etc* But every thread in Blitz is always demanding that JD, Merrett etc be dropped immediately to put some unproven tyro into a role he is not suited for. However the club has real issues in identifying and developing talent . Just look at Ted Richards, Bashar Houli, Jake Melksham . Not Charlie winners but just good average footballers.

Just heard on the Crawf and Hirdy podcast that we overlooked Ben Ronke in the draft due to his kicking. Oh the irony.

The swans have developed his kicking and alleviated the problem. IF we had a competent development team maybe we could do this too? smh

Clarkes kicking has improved out of site.

Not sure who is responsible for it but they need a payrise

mfw: its neeld.

Simple answer: iron sharpens iron

Slightly complex answer: strong leadership (on and off field) for the last 15 odd years means that expectations of players are ludicrously high compared to what our coaches expect of our list.

The leadership and culture aside.

Sydney have always built their team around A core midfield that will beat their opponent at the contest. That’s First and foremost. That’s The essence of what that club stands for. Win the ball at the contest.
Many clubs give the lip service of ‘we need to win the ball at the contest’. But Sydney build their whole club around it.

Even at list management our default pick is ‘a nice user of the football, who can play off a flank or wing’

Sydney’s default draft pick is ‘tough inside ball winner’.

That’s what they have built as a club; then they add the features to the team, ie. quick outside wingers, kpp at both ends, small forwards, etc.
but it always comes back to The essence… ‘win at the contest’

Leave McKernan out of this. He plays his heart out.

Who?

That’s what Woosha said

To be fair to us. Sydney’s game style is rubbish that is primarily successful because they play on a postage stamp, and the AFL have gone out of their way to tweak interpretations of rules over the last 20 years to make Sydney’s game style a thing, because they believe that’s what a Sydney market raised on league wants to see.
