Ok, I’ll break my rule.
We already have the #1 backman in the comp and he wears #18. To make matters worse, we also have the #2 backman in the comp but he is currently playing CHF for us.

The polls don’t lie. The board has acted against the wishes of its members.
And your list doesn’t even make sense. For one, Hird is in it, but you did say “best clubman” so fair enough. But using “best clubman” why is Dane Swan in it? He has frequently said that at Collingwood, he barely socialises with any of his team mates and in fact doesn’t see many of them in the 2 months he has off each year after round 23.
While there is nothing wrong with that, that doesn’t tell me he is “best clubman” material
