#1 Andy McGrath - from April 2022

I’m not sure of the relevance? I thought this was the McGrath thread.

I’ll never forget Walsh brushing McGrath away a couple of years ago and I believe slotting it in. That was the moment I knew we completely ■■■■■■ up. Spud

An interesting comparison between 2 former pick ones there

Honestly we just need to revamp this team.

McGrath reeks of the old panic merchant under pressure player, some weeks good, some week sh-t that you nver know what you’re getting…handballs to someone else in a worse position when physical pressure is applied, poor hack kicks, defensive efforts change from contest to contest… It’s just what he does time and time again, and it will never change.

Maybe switch him forward as a defensive tagger. I don’t know.

Of course you don’t.

I’m sure he also goes berserk over the ridiculous exploits of not just McGrath, but also Shiel, Gresham, Jones, Prior, Redman, Menzie, McKay and any other that is getting regular games but shouldn’t be.

I know I do.

He’s talking about McGrath in a McGrath thread. Seems pretty relevant to me.

He has one position and that is lock down defender, that’s it, you can’t hide him anywhere else.

He was great against bobby hill. Good lockdown defender. Shouldn’t be the first/best option bringing the ball out of defence. I’d have thought with his experience he’d be more composed.

I think you misunderstood who said what.

He needs to swallow his pride and be a true leader and sacrifice his game for the betterment of the team.

No more kick ins, and be willing to handball the ball to better kickers

Part of the issue is most of our defenders shouldn’t be the first option bringing the ball out of defence lol

I don’t know, maybe it’s about time we should be raising the bar a bit where our players are consistently good at multiple facets of the game.

Great so he’s not good enough but let’s keep him longer

He just doesn’t know how to “buy time” he’s the anti Pendlebury

Hence the panic handballs and hack kicks
