I was one of the ones who wanted him as our first pick and was delighted when we got him. He has however exceeded my expectations that's for sure. For those wanting him as a mid already, I say not yet and for a couple of reasons. I am not against a few short stints in the middle per game, but not full time yet.
The first reason is he is so good down back we need his drive, speed, and he matches up so well on small dangerous fwds.He is great one on one ,and is often beating his man and burning them the other way. Who fills his spot if he goes into the middle? He is worth more to the side down back right now then in the middle. He is second behind Hurls for intercept possessions for the team, and averaging 20 disposals. Why rob Peter to pay Paul.
The second reason is that he is a first year player and we don't want to burn him out. Playing in the midfield will be more physical and require more running. Meaning that he would need to be rested more often or risk injury.
Leave him back for this season, and slowly build him into the middle next year.
