#10 Franga: IN OUT IN OUT

To be honest, I’m a bit concerned about his progress

But can we fk off this whole mentality of your the worst person on earth of you doubt whether francis will make it, or how dare you say anything negative about a kid who’s barely done a thing since coming to the club?? The only thing I can remember francis doing since he’s come to the club is that freak goal last year and taken a couple of good marks from time to time. He’s vfl form has been ordinary most the time, for how hyped he is, he should dominate at that level

It seems to me people get SO defensive about certain players and criticism. I don’t know whether francis will make it. No one does. But I can see why people are a bit concerned, because I am to be honest

What he said

“Unsure of whether a kid is going to make it” = all good
“A ‘bit’ concerned” = no problemo
“Nobody knows if he will make it” = Absolutely I agree
“Needs to get fit” = You betcha

“Needs to be traded”
“Draft bust”
“Red-headed Cupido” (I did lol to be fair)
“not interested in becoming an AFL footballer”

= Yeah I think they deserve a bit of the ol’ defence - so I’ll stick to it

A. I wanted him at 6 desperately & didn’t care a jot who they picked at 5.

B. I said he would take 2 years to come up to speed before we even drafted him.

C. Trust your Unca Bloodstained …

What parts of his game have improved since coming into the AFL system?

I’d say his beard, but he shaved it.

I would be expecting for from a top 5 pick even in their first couple of years.

No he is not a bust and will most likely be a very good player, but he would want to get a hurry on.

Yeah, he’s already 20 years old, ■■■■■■ hell!

You would trade him for Lever in a heartbeat, isn’t going to happen though.

Thread title good but for a young bloke in his second season as a professional, and with huge question marks STILL over his fitness, maybe this is more appropriate:

Franga: pull your finger out.

Defence is his go…the game looks easier for him there…the only problem I noticed is he sometimes lets the ball go behind him after trying to take a mark…he has to try to keep that ball in front of him even if he doesn’t mark it.

I thought he was alright today suprised by the criticism.

He is not 20 yet, birthday next month.

He’s listed on the VFL sight as our second best player. I don’t know if that means I underrated his game or the site lost some credibility. He was ok I thought but I didn’t think he was in our best few.

delist

Seems he’s the new Landford…

Jake Carlisle played:

3 games in his 1st yr
7 games in his 2nd yr

Aaron Francis has played:

2 games in 1st yr
3 in his 2nd yr so far (& likely to play more)

Calm your farms people

In Francis’s case so many times kids dominate junior footy as man child esque and don’t require anywhere near the level of fitness needed at AFL level. He was a big lad but mainly puppy fat.

Look at Paddy McCartin. And he a is draft year before Francis. Concussions aside he hasn’t got to point of beating experienced men at senior level.

I’d be worried about McCartin if I was a Saints fan. Especially after a decade of Kozi.

I’m not concerned about him not having enough ability but I am concerned about whether he has the mental application and the temperament from talking to various people who would know.

Francis will make it. Needs one more good preseason and will find plenty of time in the seniors next year after some retirements.
