Gold Coast have recognised this for their small forward academy talent.
They are shipping pick 6 for Rioli and aren’t looking to hold 13 in the hope of snagging a selection before Lombard. They expect bids to come probably in the top 10.
So i really think interest is genuine.
The other is quantity of talent. We clearly want more than 2 selections this year at the national draft.
9 and 31 on its own arent going to deliver that. Diluting the top to bring in more at the back is one strategy. Doesnt seem a bad one if spotters believe the draft is deep.
“He’s an obvious talent, but with Jy Menzie we have someone with proven talent at senior level. I’ve been very impressed with Jy’s preseason. Prepared just as good as anyone I’ve seen”… Brad on Kako leading up to R1 selection (probably).
