#10 Isaac Kako

Didn’t the AFL change the rules this year meaning we could get Kako?

We probably would have taken him with 9

Instead, we get him, and Melbourne f1, and some more picks, plus a few picks going down in draft order, all for the same pick we would have used on him anyway.

Love his tackle-breaking shrug of the hips. Shades of Leethal for those that remember. He is going to be a bit of a specimen.

I may have posted this before, but after pre-season training last year when Kako played alongside some of our seniors I spotted him in the carpark. He was 17 at the time so I think he was waiting for someone to give him a lift.

Anyway I fanboyed him, telling him he didn’t look at all out of place against the senior players, and asked for his name (and how to spell it). I know everyone says the same thing about Isaac, but he was such a sweet, likeable young man, really well-spoken, self-effacing and polite. I said I hoped he got selected to play for the Bombers one day and he said “That’s my dream”.

We’ve done really well to get him for picks 33 and 34. I keep seeing stuff in the Hun and other outlets saying stuff like “Have the Bombers cost themselves a gun player?” Bizarre. We have two first rounders next year! After years in the wilderness I want the next bright shiny thing as much as anyone, but we’re finally playing the long game, planning ahead, willing to sacrifice short term sugar hits for long term balance - something we haven’t done this millennium.

This is the beginning and end of it, perfectly summarised

And we are seeing real advances in the treatment of our VFL program. We have been actively signing up players and pre season started last night.

Adam Saad? Bachar Houli?

They are of Lebanese ancestry ( Muslim religion) . He is of Iraq origin, IIRC Christian.

He was just on SEN. If you can get past Andrew Gaze stumbling over every question it’s not a bad listen.

I dont think i can.

Yep. He’s the first Assyrian/Chaldean to reach the AFL, which is an awesome achievement for our community.

A majority of our community in Victoria are also unbearable, dribbling Carlton diehards. Kako is a lifelong EFC fan, so he very likely arrives with a Blitz-approved hatred of FC too

Christians in Iraq have suffered horrible persecution for a long time.

Think it is the Sunnis who are the worst perpetrators. Have friends who came to Australia over 40 years ago and settled in Sydney, and they escaped with their lives and not much else. They say it is even worse now, maybe @RockyStarPro may comment.

How tall is kako in comparison to some other genuine small forwards?

He’s a giant compared to Nick Watson.

He’s 175cm. It think Watson is only 170cm

But other clubs may have bid for Kako BEFORE pick 9 and we could not have matched the points. The Melbourne deal was essential to collect more points. The higher the pick the more points you need to match that bid.
Great work by bombers to ensure we hit the man we wanted. We had to be certain not maybe about this one. It’s been our biggest missing link for ages in our list.
And we have 2 first round picks already next year

I hope Kako knows how to use his FIRST INSTINCT!
