I wrote this as a draft a couple of months ago, but never posted it:
McGrath should never be in the top 10 earners at the club.
It’s purely due to role.
The 3-4 centre bounce mids are typically your best players, and McGrath couldn’t make this grade.
The 5 talls along the spine are more important.
Throw in an off-spine intercepting defender like Ridley…some x-factor small/medium goal-kicking forwards…and we’re there.
At least 10 players, that need to be prioritised for salary, before we get to McGrath’s role…we’re past the pick 1 halo.

Unless a Macca’s franchise is included in the salary calculations.
