By all means prove me wrong that he doesn’t create goals kick them and help lock the ball in with any measurable stat
People just expect to get prime kozzy pickett or Charlie Cameron or Eddie Betts.
Even Kako is copping some heat and Guelfi.
Gresham is doing his job. He’s not a elite small forward of the competition but he is ok and gets the job done.
Gresham pickup better than Billings pickup, or Lachie Hunter pickup.
That said, I’m happy to move him on to blues to play with his brother as we bring in Sweid and El-Achkar.
I’d be happy to keep him he creates goals and kicks them and if we were to move Hobbs out of the forward line and bring in Huss it starts to look more like a forward line and not a after thought for players they try and shoe horn in
I think most forwards would meet the threshold you’ve implied there.
Anyway you think he’s good enough others don’t.
Cool.
No there’s actual stats to back up my statement of he kicks goals he lays tackles and creates goals. There is nothing to prove what you said.
I don’t think he is an amazing small forward like Pickett but he is a serviceable small forward
Meh.
He’s just average and those stats you love so much bare that out.
He’s a vanilla plodding forward in just about the worst performing forwardline in the league.
As for ‘locking the ball in the forwardline’…
Edit: re: your observation that ‘there’s nothing to prove what you (I) said’
I think you might have confused my initial post with someone else’s?
I think you replied to my post that I was responding too someone else so I assumed you were following the same line as them, my apologises if you weren’t
His stats for Stkilda were very good, his stats for us are good too. But the stats do not appear to tell the story.
I’d be happy for him to go to Carlton.
Yet the stats show he kicks and sets up less goals than Perkins, whom everyone (including yourself) wants out.
Gresham wins in tackles by a whopping .7 (loses the “famed” pressure acts stat by 2 though).
Stats are weird.
Not sure if you have deceptively added those stats together or what but Gresham averages goal assists more score involvements and more score launches.
Gresham averages more tackles and more tackles inside fifty.
Perkins has kicked more goals but Greshams accuracy is horrible this year and averages more shots on goal . And you’d hope that the mysterious pressure acts is better with Perkins if he gets midfield minutes but I’ve been on the train that Perkins should play it’s Hobbs that I want out of the forward line.
Not really sure of the need for accusations, but you do you.
I mentioned goals and setting up goals (aka goal assists, maybe this was the confusion?).
Perkins averages more of both. That’s it.
I wasn’t comparing them as players, just commenting on stats.
They are equal on goal assists.
I thought it was weird to lump them together that is all, no offence meant.
They’re not equal on goal assists though.
One has 6 in 11 games. One has 5 in 10 games.
Super minor but it’s there .
Anyway, sorry didn’t mean to turn this into a debate, more just a comment on stats vs perception.
On average my guy they are the same unless we are looking at decimal points, looking at totals is a slippery slope it would be like saying Gresham is better at clearances then parish because Gresh has 13 and parish only has 10 for the year
I mean, we’re already looking at decimal points, I’m just going one number further. Nothing to do with totals.
6/11 is clearly more than 5/10.
But let’s stop this
