Ok, so we (for example) pay a chunk of salary for Parish in a trade, we pay out Gresham, and that’s probably about $1m of salary cap space for zero games in 2026.
Look, I don’t think he should be in the AFL team either, but we can easily make list spots if needed. I count 15 players OOC in 2025, and outside of VIGO and Bryan, I’d be ok with any of the rest being moved on (assuming Draper leaves).
At least get something for our money, even if it is just someone at training and in the VFL team. Obviously, if we can trade him, that’s even better.
This gets mentioned so many ■■■■■■■ times and is so stupid.
I can’t remember the last time we’ve done this outside of Stewart, who we no doubt thought would never get back on the park, had other options for, and was on fk all money.
We are not paying Gresham out (or Parish as someone else mentioned in another thread).
It happens once every few year across the entire league. We are not doing it to a guy that’s played most games this year and who’s on > 500k.
Why do we care what salary is being paid? We have plenty to give… he has one more year left…
Until we get to a point where we are getting multiple star players into our club through trade or free agency then salary isn’t really an issue. In 12 months time Greshams deal will be done and McKay will be getting paid very minimal.
Not bagging Jade because apparently it’s ‘cool’. He’s been a poor performer since he was recruited and is the definition of a list clogger. He would not get a game at any other club. Peculiar to base his worth on half a game of footy, because there’s been ALOT of garbage before and likely after that
