#12 Tom Cutler - Just Cut ✄

I disagree that Cutler is at his peak. I also doubt Redman will ever become a 22 game consistent player.

Hope he’s ok.

2018 was his best year as an AFL player. He played 18 games; averaged over 20 disposals and about 2 tackles per games and kicked 11 goals 15 behinds playing mostly on the wing.

Brisvegas finished 15th and had 5 wins; and Cutler was OK in a poor team. He has gone backwards ever since and now he is 27 he is over his peak and on that downhill slide.

I would absolutely like him to be a mid-field bull at 6’4" and 92 kg, and while he is a very nice young man from Trinity Grammar, he does not possess a smart footy brain, he is not a strong tackler, and is a receiver, waiting for the little blokes to go in and dish the ball out to him.

I’m not saying Cutler will ever be a star, but his form at the end of last year was better than the form he is in now. I hope he can re-capture that form. He may not.

What!! My boy Tommy…I’d better get around there with a box of tissues

This is true — but the problem is that we have so many nice, middle-class, mummy’s boys in our team and so few tough kents that we’re at the stage where we have to consider playing the tough kents we do have, even if they’re not performing as footballers as well as they should, in order to impose a bit of order on the opposition and to protect at least some of the nice, highly skilled mummy’s boys from physical attack.

Is Redman doing that tho? Imposing himself and being the tough kent?

I see a player who’s fumbly and lacking confidence to the point he’s almost a liability with ball in hand. I’m also yet to see him impact the contest from a physical point of view.

I agree every team needs some agro, wish Mason would provide some

Why would you want one of our best players in 2022 out with COVID?

I feel like Cutler is pretty harshly judged on here, often due to his size.

Whilst he’s the perfect size for a midfield bull, he just doesn’t have any of that ferocious intent. We know this, that’s not the player he is (or ever will be). He’s very much an outside player.
He’s even improved a little in this area to my eye, but it’s definitely never going to be a strength.

His last 8 or so games have been pretty good quality.
Definitely one of our more consistent contributors for the year (and one of the small few that’s actually hit the scoreboard each week).
Anyone celebrating the fact he’s out this week due to Covid Protocols isn’t paying attention.

Anyone else notice a ✄heeky tactic after we scored a behind on sunday. A freo player was kicking out (as soon as the umpire signalled) to a freo player all on his own on the flank, just as he kicked it ✄UTS ran back into the square holding another ball. Which the umpire saw and immediately blew the whistle forcing the freo player to retake the kick.

Genius move.
