Setterfield is not a good ball user
I like his second efforts similar to duusma.
When you see him make a mistake, he pulls a finger out & works damm hard to make up for it.
Yup. Above ā ā ā ā Carlton & @Finding_Nino rates their list. I dont. I think theyāre horse scum
Yeah. i wanna keep out tacklers. If we donāt have them in the team we lose muscle.
heās easily better than Shiel and Tsatas.
Is tsatas taking tackles off setterfield?
I like him going inside 50 though. Heās just got that bit of composure. Only Merrett averages more goal assists per game than Will does.
Iam not saying there isnāt a role for him in the side but I donāt think itās midfield.
A super large portion of his disposal comes from uncontested possessions out around the ground, I think this would suit him better being on a wing or half forward in Hobbs spot
Midfield is the only position that suits him.
Heās been tried elsewhere previously and it doesnāt work.
I get that you want Tsatas in (so do I) but I think itās causing you to be overly critical of what Setterfield is bringing.
I think that heās been repeatedly tried on a wing by both us and FCFC, and itās never worked. It just doesnāt play to his strengths, and it takes away from our midfield the point of difference that his size and defensive mindset offer.
No itās not that itās that he gets trumped up in here but in actual fact he isnāt bringing much to the midfield but more so around the ground he is doing it so why not utilise that.
You are right I do want Tsatas in the side and it does frustrate me that the excuses people use why Tsatas shouldnāt be playing doesnāt apply to other players for example the one that Tsatas can only play midfield then it gets says about setterfield and thatās fine.
But ultimately I want a team that is going to one day challenge for a flag and these guys like setterfield and Shiel arenāt going to take us there but guys like Tsatas and Hobbs may so why sacrifice long term success for an extra two or three wins this year.
Donāt we all.
I think grouping Setterfield with Shiel in that is a little unfair though. Setterfield is younger than Merrett/Langford/Redman/Wright/McKay/etc.
I guess you could argue that none of them will be in our team when (if) we challenge for a flag either, do we bin them all?
Iād love to hear what Merrett/Caldwell/Durham think about his impact in the midfield. Id guarantee none of them would say heās ānot bringing muchā
Heās not the bloke competing with Tsatas for a midfield spot imo.
ā ā ā ā knows what theyāre doing to do if/when Parish comes back
I agree itās more shiel and parish competing with Tsatas and iam not against setterfield being in the side I am just saying that he could be used in a different way to give the younger guys the midfield time
Maybe they will call the Vatican and report a modern miracle.
The conversation being held in this thread is pretty redundant and senseless for mine.
Setterfield is not the player keeping Tsatas out. They are completely different players, one is a defensive anchor the other is an offensive anchor.
Shiel is the one keeping Tsatas out.
At the moment Setters is being optimized in how he is being used, for both him and the team. Move him out of the midfield and the player but more importantly the team will suffer. He and we are better off with him left where he is.
Setterfieldās durability will be the key likely for his contract and holding his place in the side. Once your out, itās hard to get back in, Thatās the way Brad likes it.
You could easily play Caldwell as the defensive anchor, drop setterfield and bring in an offensive midfielder like Tsatas or Parish.
Shiel was sub, and Parish isnāt back yet.
I just think Scott and co view Tsatas down the pecking order
Not sure you can drop Setterfield after last week. He played well but he has limitations on what he can do. But tackling, blocking and running with oppo players are all helping our side right now so he stays in for mine.
