What do you mean “No real cost”. Think of the children.

They definitely do, that wasnt my point.

I was simply suggesting that Setterfield is not the one taking Tsatas’ midfield time. They are completely different players

Setterfield has only himself to blame. We chased him to the club and he started off his first season well, then his body broke down and he’s basically going to have this sad what if career. What if he didn’t get drafted by GWS. What if he picked better than Carlton for his next stop, what if he stayed fit at Essendon.

He’s 27 and I think he’s a good footballer, but what we are seeing now is the best he can be. It probably means he’s worthy of a list spot but I’d be hoping someone can displace him longer term.

Criticise Scott all you want, however I doubt we’ve had as many defensively capable midfielders in the team as we do currently:

Setterfield
Durham
Caldwell
Merrett
Hobbs

If it is true that Tsatas has gone back to the VFL to work on his defensive craft, then its another sign that the coaching panel is finally putting words into actions with regard to being hard to play against.

Not sure where you are going with this post.

The first 10 rounds has illustrated there is no one else at the club capable of playing a pure defensive mid role to his level.
He’s a big bodied defensive midfielder, who tackles, blocks, scraps for every ball and can use the footy. No one else plays this role like him at the club, therefore he’s not keeping anyone out.
He’s the same age as Mcgrath and Ridley so he’s not too old to persist with and should be part of future planning. Great signing.

I’m suggesting that he’s a decent footballer but he basically ■■■■■■ his career with bad choices and bad health.

He should have been more accomplished than he is, and I like him

Mate, he’s always struggled on a wing. Setterfield is a midfielder or he shouldn’t be in the team.

Can we keep the Tsatas discussion out of the Setterfield thread?

I literally was talking about setterfield it was others that started the talk of Tsatas and I responded to that

That blanketing job Setterfield did on Heeney last week doesn’t look too bad now.

Your right, however if Setterfield was to get injured, Tsatas would take his place and another mid would take Setterfields role. So he kinda is holding Tsatas out of the side.
Having said that Setterfield is an important player for us in balancing our midfield. We probably need to draft a young version of him next year with a high pick.

Setterfield from what I can see is playing what was Caldwells role. Tough on the inside and accountable. I’d say in time Caldwell will go back to that once his conditioning improves post injury. If that happens it’ll be interesting to see what role setterfield plays

They’re both injury-prone so as long as they can alternate their injuries between them we have one very good mid.
