#13 Nik Cox - thru 2026 (Part 1)

Harry’s odds for the rising star have shortened too

Would prefer Cox and Perkins don’t get one. Less ammunition at the contract re-negotiations. Unless of course they go down the KDB route and hire a data analysis firm to produce a report outlining the contract value

That is because he makes each of his possessions count.
l say this without any knowledge of his DE, but it just feels like he doesn’t waste the ball, but uses it very efficiently, makes good decisions, executes them well.

I’m unsurprised that Cox didn’t get the nod this week. I am, however, surprised that Weightman picked it up. Thought Cox was significantly better. Poulter was my prediction, though, just purely on numbers.

Yeah, he tends to stand out when he gets the ball. Very surprising that he is yet to be nominated for rising star.

Got to think Tom Greene will be hard to beat here. He’s in ripping form and GWS could make finals. On the nom, you had Mcreery and Poulter have ripper games too. There was a good few options this week

I don’t rating any award that has Glen Jakovich and Kevin Bartlett as judges. Absolute farce.

Does Jakovich know how to speak English?

Or any language?

Dunno but someone needs to tell Jakovich that Cox is firming.

Yeah, it’s odd to see an AFL photo that hasn’t been digitally enhanced, and shows players as they are in real life.

The solution it seems is to trade for Clug and have them both.

I like this guy.
And he can be such a big weapon.

In three years time, we’re either going to want more possessions or value the ones he gets.

This guy needs to be assessed like Michael Long. Never really became a high volume player but everything he did was quality.

Played a game of two halves. In the first half he wasn’t sighted all that much, but he followed Perkins lead in the second half and got heavily involved. The longer the game went, the better he got.

I still don’t think it’s all his fault (being quiet)

Does not stop running, our players just miss/ignore him too often. Cannot question his work rate. Always see him free on wing for a release from the backline.

The possessions will come as the boys start to look for him a bit more.

can’t do much when youre a winger and the team goes the other wing.

Definitely. I noticed a few times where we could have used him and was just not seen by the ball-carrier. It’s a shame, because he is damaging when he has the ball in his hands. Need to find him more often.

He did a huge tackle on Nic Nat which I didn’t expect. Impressive.

This kid is going to be something. He’s going to beat everyone all over the ground.

He had a quite game tonight.

Did a few nice things.

I like that Truck got him to play on Naitanui. Ideally we’d like him to be a similar build. But to get the ball 25 more times per game.

The entire last 10 mins of that match was immense by him.

That tackle on NicNat sealed the match with 2.30 on the clock and speaks volumes about the kids character.
